Today we’d like to introduce you to Jairus McNealy And Talicia McNealy.
Hi Jairus McNealy and Talicia McNealy, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Jairus and I have been married for 23 years, and entrepreneurship was something we both envisioned for ourselves even before we got married. Like many people, however, we followed the traditional path for a long time—building careers, working corporate jobs, raising our family, and doing what we believed we were supposed to do.
Over time, we began to realize that we wanted more ownership over our future, particularly financially. For Jairus, that feeling became even stronger after years in the corporate world. He had built a successful career in the healthcare industry, developing extensive knowledge, relationships, and experience, but eventually reached a point where he knew that continuing on the corporate path was not going to create the future we wanted for ourselves and our family.
Then a series of difficult circumstances surrounding his employment brought us to a crossroads. What initially felt like a major setback ultimately became the push we needed. Instead of immediately looking for another corporate position, we began asking ourselves a different question: What could we build that belonged to us?
Jairus had already been studying the medical billing industry, and because both of us had professional experience in healthcare, it felt like a natural opportunity to combine our backgrounds, relationships, and skill sets. We decided to step out on faith and build something of our own, and that decision became the beginning of Victory Medical Alliance.
What started as a desire to create greater control over our own future has grown into something much bigger. Today, Victory Medical Alliance supports healthcare providers with medical and dental billing, credentialing, benefits verification, and practice management solutions. We have had the opportunity to grow the company, expand our reach, participate in business accelerators and entrepreneurial programs, compete in and win pitch competitions, and build relationships within an incredible entrepreneurial ecosystem.
The journey has certainly not been a straight line, but every challenge has reinforced why we started. We wanted to build a business that created freedom and opportunity for our family while also making a meaningful difference for the healthcare providers we serve. Looking back, what once felt like an unexpected career disruption became the catalyst for us to finally pursue the entrepreneurial vision we had carried for so many years.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely has not always been a smooth road. Like many entrepreneurs, one of our earliest challenges was simply gaining traction. We knew we had the experience and could provide a valuable service, but building awareness, earning trust, and converting relationships into clients took time and consistency.
Another challenge has been access to capital. As the business has grown, so have the opportunities in front of us, but growth also requires investment. Whether it is technology, staffing, software, marketing, or expanding operational capacity, there have been moments when we could clearly see the next level of the business but needed additional resources to get there. That has pushed us to be very intentional and resourceful about how we grow.
We have also had to learn how to balance entrepreneurship with family. Building a business as a husband-and-wife team comes with its own unique rewards and challenges, especially while raising a family. There are times when the lines between business and home can easily blur, so we have had to learn how to communicate, divide responsibilities, support one another, and keep our family at the center of what we are building.
Through all of those challenges, we have continued to grow, learn, and become more resilient. Every obstacle has forced us to sharpen our strategy and become better business owners. The road has not always been easy, but it has absolutely been worth it.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Victory Medical Alliance is a revenue cycle management company that supports healthcare providers and facilities with the administrative and financial side of running their practices. VMA specializes in medical and dental billing, credentialing, benefits verification, and practice management solutions designed to help providers improve cash flow, reduce administrative burden, and stay focused on patient care.
One of the things we are most proud of is the diverse mix of healthcare practices and facilities we currently serve. We work with providers across different specialties, practice sizes, and stages of growth, and that diversity has strengthened our ability to understand the unique challenges healthcare organizations face.
What truly sets VMA apart is our commitment to being more than just another billing vendor. We are a trusted, strategic partner to the providers we serve. That means we are not simply submitting claims and waiting for payment. We are looking at the bigger picture—identifying opportunities, addressing issues that may be impacting reimbursement, communicating with our clients, and helping them make stronger decisions around their revenue cycle.
We have built our brand around accessibility, responsiveness, transparency, and personalized service. Our clients know who they are working with, they can reach us when they need us, and we take the time to understand their individual practices rather than offering a one-size-fits-all solution.
Brand-wise, we are most proud that Victory Medical Alliance represents partnership. Healthcare providers have enough to manage while caring for their patients. We want them to know that they do not have to navigate the business side of healthcare alone. Our goal is to become an extension of their team and help build stronger, healthier, and more sustainable practices.
If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
The quality Jairus and I both immediately identified as most important to our success is authenticity. The fact that we independently chose the same word speaks to just how deeply that value is woven into the way we lead and operate Victory Medical Alliance.
For us, authenticity means being honest and transparent with the providers and practices we serve. We are upfront about what we can do, the services we offer, the expectations we set, and our ability to deliver. We never want to portray ourselves as something we are not or promise something simply to gain a client. If we say we can do something, we want our clients to be confident that we will follow through and do it with excellence.
That same authenticity carries into our existing client relationships. It means communicating clearly, being realistic about timelines, responding when issues arise, taking accountability, and keeping our word. We believe trust is built through those everyday interactions, not just through the work itself.
Ultimately, we want providers to know that when they work with VMA, they are getting a partner who is going to be real with them, advocate for them, and put their needs first. We believe that commitment to honesty, accountability, transparency, and quality has played a major role in our growth and the trust that our clients continue to place in us.
