Hidden Gems: Meet Dr. Lynn of Jones-Wood Psychological Associates, Inc.

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Lynn.

Hi Dr. Lynn, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Dr. Arcangela Wood and Dr. Lynn Luna Jones are psychologists who have been colleagues since 2003, and opened their private practice in 2013. They have offices in Chagrin Falls and Hudson. It has been their mission to provide high-quality, comprehensive mental health services. At present we have 37 clinicians, including psychologists, social workers, counselors, and school psychologists. They treat a wide range of clients, including adults, adolescents, children, couples, and families. They also have many different specialized therapies that they offer, including, but not limited to, dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), gender affirming therapy, art therapy, sex therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, and play therapy.

Our psychologists specialize in administering psychological testing for many different types of issues, but the most popular are ADHD, autism, and learning disabilities. Finally, our forensic psychologists are able to conduct many different kinds of psychological evaluations and independent medical evaluations, for individuals involved with the courts (criminal, civil, probate, and juvenile courts), the Bureau of Workers’ Compensation, private and public employers, and other referral sources. They are able to provide expert testimony when requested.

Our team is truly passionate and dedicated to their work and their patients. We strive to continue our education and training in order to stay on top of the newest ways to help each patient the best way possible.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Certainly not. We began with just the two of us, renting office space from colleagues until we could have our own office space. Eventually we saved enough money from our forensic work to hire a support staff member. Then, we gradually found clinicians that shared our vision and built our practice. Of course, the pandemic was particularly difficult to navigate, as we had only performed in-person services prior to that. Now, we are able to offer both telehealth and in-person options. In addition, some of our psychologists are members of PSYPACT and are able to provide telehealth services in almost every U.S. state.

We eventually outgrew our Chagrin Falls office space and opened our Hudson office. We are proud to have a team of dedicated and energetic clinicians and support staff that is able to serve these communities. They are truly amazing.

In addition to the information included in question 1, Dr. Lynn Luna Jones has pursued additional specializations above and beyond her doctorate in psychology.

In 2012, she became board certified in Forensic Psychology by the American Board of Professional Psychology and in 2025, she earned board certification in Police & Public Safety Psychology. She is the only person in the State of Ohio to hold both credentials, as it is signifies a very high level of training and expertise in these fields.

What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
The most important lesson we have learned is to be flexible and adaptable. It is always difficult for us when our clinicians and support staff members move on to other positions/careers or develop different life goals, such as relocation, marriage, or retirement. We love working with our colleagues and it is always hard to see them go. But, by practicing acceptance and acknowledging the reality of the situation, we have been able to respond to staffing changes with a clear mind.
