Exploring Life & Business with Dexter Bailey of The Genius Group

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dexter Bailey.

Hi Dexter, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Sure, my journey has been rooted in education, leadership, entrepreneurship, and a desire to make a meaningful difference in people’s lives. I began building my career in education, where I discovered that my passion extended beyond teaching lessons, it was about helping people recognize their potential and creating opportunities for them to succeed.

Over the years, I’ve served in various educational roles, worked with organizations such as Walt Disney World, and developed experience in communication, marketing, technology, and professional development. I also founded Success Radio and continued building opportunities to share ideas, train educators, and help organizations grow.

My educational journey led me to earn a bachelor’s degree in Communication and Marketing from Wright State University and a master’s degree in Education from Concordia University Nebraska where I graduated with a 4.0.

Today, I serve as a Director of Technology in education, lead The Genius Group LLC, and remain deeply involved in community leadership, including serving as president of the Wright State African American Alumni Society and my local chapter of The Lions Club.

Each chapter of my life has reinforced my belief that leadership is about service, innovation, and opening doors for others. My story is still being written, and my goal is to continue building initiatives that empower people, strengthen communities, and leave a lasting legacy.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It certainly hasn’t been a smooth road. Like many people, I’ve experienced moments of surprise life twists and turns. At times, there were limited resources, barriers, and people who may not immediately see the value of a imagination and a creative idea. But in the end, I have found ways to get what I want out of life and leave things that I am a part of better than I found it.

Working in education has taught me that meaningful change takes persistence. I had found myself taking on responsibilities beyond my official role because I care about the people I serve and the outcomes we can achieve.

At times, that had meant giving more of my time, energy, and expertise, but it was never a burden because it was the challenges of problem solving that invigorates me even today.

I’ve also learned to recognize that sometimes the very things that make us different are the things that make us valuable. I was at a job and I told my colleagues that I wanted to have my own radio show, a few said the market was saturated, others said it was impossible. I put in the work and soon after, I had my own f.m. radio show, “Success Radio,” on interviewing successful people from all over the world.

I’ve learned that being capable of doing something doesn’t mean I should have to do everything alone, and that advocating for yourself is just as important as advocating for others.

Through it all, my family, my faith in the potential of people, and my desire to leave something meaningful behind have kept me moving forward.

I’ve learned to see setbacks not as the end of the road, but as opportunities to grow, reassess, and find a better path forward because so many people don’t succeed not because they experienced setbacks but because they never even try to learn from those setbacks and try again.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
The Genius Group LLC is a multifaceted business built around a simple mission: using technology, education, creativity, and innovation to help people and organizations reach their full potential. Our work spans educational technology, professional development, AI, website development, community initiatives, and digital solutions.

My background as an educator, technology leader, entrepreneur, and professional trainer shapes how we approach problems. I believe technology should do more than look impressive; it should solve real problems, create opportunities, and make a meaningful difference in people’s lives.

Through The Genius Group, I’m developing solutions that help schools, businesses, and communities operate more effectively and think more creatively. I’m particularly interested in making emerging technologies accessible, creating engaging learning experiences, and building programs that expand opportunities for underserved communities.

My long term vision is to grow The Genius Group into an enterprise that combines innovation with social impact. I am building more than a business. I am to creating an organization that develops ideas into practical solutions, empowers people with knowledge and resources, and demonstrates that profitability and purpose can work together.

Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
I see the industries surrounding The Genius Group LLC, education, technology, and professional development, undergoing a major transformation over the next five to ten years.

I believe we’re moving from an era in which people primarily learn how to use technology to one in which they must learn how to collaborate with it, innovate with it, and use it to solve real world problems.

The biggest opportunities will come from connecting these industries rather than treating them as separate fields.

Education will shift toward personalized, hands on learning. Students will need more than memorization. Critical thinking, creativity, coding, collaboration, and the ability to solve unfamiliar problems will become increasingly important.

People will need to continuously update their skills as jobs and industries change. I see significant opportunities for organizations that can bridge the gap between emerging technology and the people expected to use it.

And finally, the digital divide will see a dramatic shift. Technology can expand access to education, economic opportunity, and information. But communities without adequate resources, training, or infrastructure risk falling further behind. I believe the organizations that combine innovation with accessibility and community impact will have an important role to play.
