Today we’d like to introduce you to Wesley Sigler.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
DinkLife started as a fun way for my wife Chanda and me to share the places, attractions, and experiences we enjoy together. We’ve always loved traveling, amusement parks, unusual roadside attractions, local history, and finding places that are just a little different from the ordinary.
What began as simply documenting our adventures gradually turned into something much bigger. We started creating videos around our trips, theme parks, hidden gems, and interesting stories from around Northeast Ohio and beyond. Over time, people began finding the channel through our travel videos, local history stories, and short-form content, and the DinkLife community continued to grow.
Today, DinkLife is focused on encouraging people to get out and explore, whether that means traveling across the world, visiting a theme park, discovering a forgotten piece of local history, or finding something interesting right in their own hometown. We try to keep everything fun, genuine, and approachable while sharing the places and stories that we truly enjoy.
At the end of the day, our message has always been pretty simple: Whatever you decide to do, just get out there and do it!
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely hasn’t always been a smooth road. One of the biggest challenges has been figuring everything out as we go. Neither of us started with a background in video production or social media, so we’ve had to learn filming, editing, storytelling, thumbnails, algorithms, and what actually connects with an audience. While Chanda has experience in the theatre, this is a completely different form of communication.
There have also been plenty of videos we spent a lot of time on that barely got noticed, while something we made almost on a whim suddenly took off. That can be frustrating, but it has taught us not to focus too much on individual views and to keep creating things we genuinely enjoy.
Probably the biggest challenge is simply finding the time. DinkLife is something we do around our full-time careers and everyday life, so traveling, researching stories, filming, editing, and keeping up with multiple social platforms can become a lot of work.
But that has also been part of the fun. Every year we’ve learned more, improved what we do, and slowly built an audience that enjoys going along on these adventures with us.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’ve spent more than 26 years working as an engineer at Goodyear, primarily in research and advanced tire development. Much of my career has focused on designing and developing non-pneumatic, or airless, tire technology for everything from commercial and autonomous vehicles to some very unique applications.
My work has involved mechanical design, prototyping, testing, FEA, fixture development, manufacturing support, and working closely with teams to turn early concepts into real hardware. Over the years, I’ve also been fortunate to contribute to numerous patented technologies and work on projects involving autonomous vehicles and advanced mobility.
More recently, I’ve been involved in developing tire technology for future lunar vehicles. It’s definitely one of the most unique projects I’ve ever worked on and combines a lot of the things I enjoy most about engineering: solving difficult mechanical problems, building things that haven’t existed before, and figuring out how to make them work in an extreme environment.
What I’m most proud of is that I’ve continued learning throughout my career. I actually completed my bachelor’s degree later in life while working full time, and that experience reinforced something I strongly believe: there’s never a point where you’re finished learning or improving.
While Chanda spends her free time performing with various theatre companies in the area, she is a Corporate Law Senior Analyst. She has a bachelor’s degree from Kent State University and has spent her career as a paralegal working in medical malpractice, estate planning, contract administration and now, corporate law. She is most proud of the fact that she has managed juggle both her passion for the arts and her work, simultaneously.
What sets us apart is the fact that we explore so many different things. We are not hyper focused on one activity, area, niche, etc.
How do you define success?
For us, success isn’t about how much money we make or what we own. It’s about enjoying life together, creating memories, exploring new places, and having the freedom to do the things we love. We believe success is measured by the experiences we share, the people we meet, and the happiness we find along the way.
