Today we’d like to introduce you to Amy DiFilippo and Olivia Zemanek
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
We have been planning parties and events together for a long time! Every time we have planned something or done decorations for something we always get told that we went way overboard or did way too much and that we should be planning parties everywhere! It’s funny because we never feel like we go overboard…it just comes natural for us! We like to say that we both have the “overboard gene”.
We both have unique backgrounds that work so well together! Amy has been planning events for senior living communities for over 20 years. Olivia has been in the marketing space for over 8 years and has helped market and plan large conferences across the country. Together, we make a dynamic mother/daughter duo who love being together!
But with all the compliments and suggestions we decided to just dive in. When we’re together our ideas just flow and we enjoy it so much. We want to help others do the same because what’s better than celebrating?!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Definitely not, but never is! When we finally launched in February of last year, about a month later, Amy was in a very traumatic car accident. Other things took precedence, and getting back to a good frame of mind was one of them. It made the start lose some of its steam. But, with something like that, we both learned a lot. We already had a great relationship, but it hit a little too close to home how fragile life is. How in seconds things can change. It puts into perspective what is important, and it comes down to relationships and people who you love. And yes, celebrating…even the smallest of things.
One of our other struggles has just been getting off the ground in general. It’s never easy starting a business when you don’t have a lot to invest. However, our support system and excitement has been really reassuring that we CAN do this. It’s hard to have the motivation sometimes, especially in the beginning when you are just starting and not sure where it will lead.
We are really excited to see where this goes and what we can make it. We have a million ideas that we can’t wait to keep rolling out.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Life’s a party and we’re here to help you celebrate! That’s what we do! We are a party and event planning resource with tools and inspiration to help others plan their own party while adding that extra cherry on top to make their celebration extra special. We are in the works of launching a venue finder for our followers because we always see people asking for recommendations. We just want to be a conveinent, go to resource for our people!
We also offer event planning and decorating services. We can have someone give us a theme and we’ll work out everything from a photo backdrop to tablescapes to food or games and music ideas. If you just want a balloon arch display or centerpieces put together, we can do that, too!
As a party planning resource, we are excited to launch our new “Party in a Box” product later this year. The party boxes will be decorations and other party supplies for a variety of party themes.
So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
We love bringing smiles to people’s faces. When the guest of honor walks through the door and we see them light up with excitement at the party they are walking into, we just can’t get enough of that! We love when people notice the tiniest little details, too. We just want people to enjoy life and we believe that celebrating even the smallest things is so important. We get told many times in life that you’re supposed to live a certain way or do things a certain way, but it’s important to remember that even the smallest things in life deserve a celebration.
