Today we’d like to introduce you to Elissa Jackson.

Hi Elissa, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Elise floral began as a therapeutic journey 5 years ago and has become a life long love of flower creation.
After Covid, I experienced the loss of several family members. I found myself developing a deep passion for creating floral arrangements. I have always been a creative person. Being able to create unique arrangements for each clients celebration has been enriching in many ways. I also love meeting new people and being able to be a small part of their journey.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Owning and running your own business is definitely not easy. There are many challenges and opportunities you face. I don’t believe there is just one challenge and then everything is perfect. Anything can happen at anytime. You just have to try and prepare and learn from your mistakes. Also, stay positive throughout the struggles.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a local florist. I create floral arrangements for all occasions. They range from weddings, anniversaries, funerals, high school dances, and graduations. I also do balloon backdrop arrangements for events.
I don’t have only one thing I can say I am proud of. I am proud of all of my work. All of it is unique in its own way. Every order I have received has allowed me to meet new clients along the way.
One thing that sets me apart from others is my creativity. I never make one arrangement the same. I listen to my clients ideas and go from there. Another thing is my customer service. I treat everyone how I would like to be treated. I expect to have a great experience. I would want my client to have the same experience.I believe that is a major thing that is lacking in most businesses. There is too much AI and not enough people to give a personal touch.

Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
I love that our city is still growing. There have been many updates to our downtown area. It seems like they are hoping to get more people to shop and eat locally. It gives more opportunities for small businesses to be seen and network with other businesses.
The one thing I dislike about our city is that most businesses no longer stay open late. After Covid happened, many businesses and restaurants close early. It is very difficult to go certain places at night because of it. It is unfortunate because I believe more of them could be more profitable.
