Today we’d like to introduce you to Jonathan Yates.
Hi Jonathan, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
I am hosting a wine and comedy event, “Wine, Dine, and Punchlines” at Krackpots Comedy Club, which is a great place to go for laughs, very good food (seriously, I have eaten there,) and just have a good. I competed at Krackpots in the World Series of Comedy, as it hosted that round.
From that, I got to know the owner who is just a wonderful guy with a terrific comedy club! I got my start in comedy by writing scripts, which did well in contests. I wanted to see how the dialogue sounded so I started doing standup and it’s been a blast being a comic!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Very smooth. I love being a comic and writing comedy. Dealing with Krackpots Comedy Club for the event has been a dream. I can’t wait for December 1 to host “Wine, Dine, and Punchlines” at Krackposts… I hope everyone reading this can make it as we have Ohio wineries, mead, beer, and spirits coming in to “strut their stuff” along with food vendors.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Reading has always been my first love; with writing my passion. It’s been that way since I was a child and I hope to spend my last moments at a library. Thousands of my articles have been published in a wide range of venues and my scripts have won awards at more than 60 major events.
Do you have any advice for those just starting?
Show up, play your game and see what happens! Figure out your strengths and focus on those. Always be ready to suggest something positive and unique to set yourself apart from others.
