Today we’d like to introduce you to Ronald Hummons.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My story is a story of childhood trauma and perseverance. I was conceived by rape, adopted at the age of 5 by a man that hurt me really bad, to becoming a product of the streets. I overcame all of that to become a successful entrepreneur, award winning author, and speaker.
It was in my adult years that I learned what Childhood Trauma actually was from a biological perspective and I decided to start a movement that would create generational healing. My legislation has been signed into law in 3 Ohio cities and is in the process of passing at the state level. My bill, HCR.14 qualifies childhood trauma for an emergency declaration.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Not at all. My challenges to becoming an entrepreneur came when I realized how complex running and starting a small business is. I dropped outta school in the 10th grade and didn’t have the business credentials or formal education so I educated myself with resources at our local library. My challenges in becoming an activist were people’s lack of understanding of how pervasive childhood trauma really is.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m a full-time childhood trauma advocate and award-winning author. I’m also a policy writer for my initiative. I’m most proud of the legacy of entrepreneurs I’ve created who’s followed my blueprint. I taught my students that good character will take you places money and education won’t.
Can you share something surprising about yourself?
I’m very introverted lol. People think because I’m a public figure that I’m outgoing but that couldn’t be farther from the truth.
