Today we’d like to introduce you to Jean Garcia.
Jean, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My name is Jean G. Garcia I’m from Ponce, Puerto Rico. As of now, I’m 22 years old in 2015 my mother decided for us as a family to move to Cleveland, OH. Looking for a better life for her children was a little hard for us because the new language English was new to us but that did not stop my mom from her goals and dreams for her children.
I started my business at 18 years old I started with a business called El Sabor De Ponce that’s when I let myself known for my exquisite sandwiches. That’s when the word started to get around and people started to love my food. After 2 years into El Sabor De Ponce, COVID-19 came along and other circumstances of life made me have to close my business down but it was closed down still being known for its good quality of food.
In 2022 I had the opportunity to open a restaurant with my mother called Jibaro Latin Restaurant with more variety of food options and more space for people to enjoy their food and spend a good time at the place.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I had some difficulties adapting to the new environment, and language.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Jibaro Latin Restaurant?
