Today we’d like to introduce you to Jr Tubbs.
Hi Jr, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
I started tattooing in 2005 in mentor Ohio at a shop called fx tattoo. I had been approached about learning how to tattoo a couple of times and after not much deliberation I finished a tattoo on a young man who was a shop hangout type. With one stroke of the needle, I was hooked and fell in love with tattooing immediately.
After working for fx tattoo until 2012 I decided to start my little shop things were great but I wasn’t quite sure if I wanted to keep that shop going. In 2019 I started the lonesome rose tattoo parlor in Geneva, and this was the place that is exactly what I wanted in a tattoo shop I for sure plan on spending the rest of my life in this beautiful little town
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Tattooing is one of those careers that is full of ups and downs. I think that’s what keeps me drawn to it, I’ll never have it all figured out ya know. I feel that anything worth doing should be a little scary and intimidating at first. I’ve been tattooing for 17 years now and almost every single day I walk in with the same passion if not more that I had when I did my first tattoo. It’s a career that will truly consume you in all of the best ways possible
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I specialize in American traditional tattooing. That would be what I’m most known for but for me, it all boils down to the customer ya now. I can be doing the coolest tattoo on a not-so-savory customer and it’s not fun at all but I can do a tattoo that would normally not be fun at all on a cool customer and I’ll have the time of my life. It’s all about customer relations and I feel like that’s where I stand out I try to connect with every one that comes through the front doors of my tattoo shop
Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
I owe so much to so many people. Far too many to name them all but I can tell you that without the love and support of my girlfriend ( Audrey ) I wouldn’t be able to do this at the level I am. She’s my rock through the good times and the bad
