Today we’d like to introduce you to Nikki Wolfe. Them and their team share their story with us below:
If you could design a real estate agent with extra attributes to benefit a buyer or seller, you’d get REALTOR® Nikki Wolfe. Nikki’s many years in interior design and marketing paved the way for her career in real estate and provides value for her clients.
Nikki was born and raised in Oregon, Ohio. After graduating high school, she studied interior design and marketing at Bowling Green State University. When she graduated in 2005, she took off to Southern California to find her dream job in commercial interior design for the hospitality industry.
But then tragedy struck. Just as she started working for a residential design company, Nikki’s mother was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer with only a short time to live. Nikki rushed home to be with her family and the company decided to let her go. While Nikki’s mom did live more than the few days the doctors had thought, she passed in early 2006.
Nikki felt lost. Not only had she lost her mom, but her first job as well. She didn’t know whether to continue her job search or pursue her Masters in Architecture, which was something her then-husband encouraged her to do. Unsure of her next steps, she applied for and was accepted to The Southern California Institute of Architecture. But then she was offered a job as a Junior Designer at a prestigious design firm. She deferred on school and jumped at the job offer. Nikki loved this job and quickly moved up to Senior Designer.
In 2008, Nikki returned to Ohio with her now ex-husband to support his career and start a family. Finding a job like the one she had in California was hard, so Nikki decided to start her own Event Design and Coordination company. Since there was not many in that industry locally, her business took off.
However, tragedy struck again during her 10-year career in event design. Her father passed away and she went through a divorce. Nikki was again faced with a catalyst in her life and career. “They have made me realize how important it is to find balance between work and home life, and how to treasure every moment big or small, and to celebrate every victory no matter the size.” This time the events moved her to sell her business and go back to interior design and marketing, landing a job with a local home builder.
Life presented Nikki with another roadblock when the luxury home builder suddenly closed its doors leaving her without a job. Friend, mentor, and real estate agent, Megan Hornsby convinced Nikki to go in a new direction by getting her real estate license with the extra time she had on her hands. Five weeks later she had her license and became a REALTOR® Being 100% commission and a single mom, Nikki knew it was go time; failure was not an option. Even though acquiring leads in the beginning was hard, Nikki was able to tap her former design clients to get started.
Today, Nikki loves what she does! She loves the unlimited income potential, flexibility, and being able to help people at the same time. She is passionate about differentiating herself from other REALTORS® and providing value to her clients. Her design background gives her the ability to advise her clients on buying or selling a home, doing renovations, and seeing the potential in investment property.
For agents, Nikki recommends finding a mentor, being organized and consistent from the start, and always marketing yourself. She also recommends finding a brokerage that fits your needs as you continue to grow.
When not working, Nikki likes to be outdoors – whether that is with her 13-year-old daughter, Isabella, in her softball league, golfing, or at the sporting events of her fiancé, Matt’s, boys.
Being in the area also means she gets to be close to her younger brother, Chad his wife Kristi, and her niece Sophia. They love spending weekends with a large group of friends they call “family” and enjoy traveling.
Nikki loves helping others learn. Her goal in educating a client is to establish trust and open communication. She wants them to not only have a smooth real estate transaction but find a friend in the process. Since being licensed in 2018 Nikki has helped hundreds of families achieve their real estate goals and has been awarded the President’s award of Excellence through the Northwest Ohio Board of Realtors! She has been featured as The Realtor on The Rise in Real Producers Magazine, ranked a TOP 100 agent in all of Ohio on social media, and a host/contributor of the Modern Agent blueprint.
“When you see me, I am usually smiling, I hope that people will not only remember me for my work ethic but for my kind-hearted personality as well.”
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Nothing worth having is easy… you always have to be willing to learn and adapt. Through market shifts, COVID you name it, if you don’t pivot and adjust you will not survive in this career. Being a single mom juggling showings at all times of the day with your child’s school and sports schedule can be challenging however having the flexibility to arrange showings, meetings, and appointments around those things is a benefit. Finding clients can be a struggle, you have to constantly be selling yourself and providing value so that people will refer business to you. 95% of my business comes from referrals so it is extremely important.
