Community Highlights: Meet Noor Faour of Le Photogenique

Today we’d like to introduce you to Noor Faour.

Hi Noor, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
My name is Noor Faour I am a Photographer based in Columbus Ohio. I am Skilled in experimental Photography, Studio Photography, Portrait Photography, and Event Photography. Strong arts and design professional while pursuing my Bachelor’s Degree in Columbus College of Art and Design. I am half Lebanese half Palestinian. I grew up mostly in Beirut, Lebanon. I have moved so much in my life. I have been to 8 different schools and 3 different countries until I graduated high school. Finally, graduated from Hilliard Davidson High School in 2015. I have also been in college since I graduated high school. but with the unfortunate circumstances in Beirut, Lebanon every time I think I am ready to go back I find myself coming back to the United States. It is a beautiful country, but there is no way you can get ahead in life if you stay there. I went to Columbus State Community College (1.5 years), Rafik Hariri University (1 year), Notre Dame University Louize (1 year), and then I came back to Columbus state community college for (1 year) to get my Associates Degree in Photography in December 2021, and now this is my second semester in CCAD. My passion for photography is what is keeping me going; I will not give up before I get where I want to be. This could take another year or another 5 years; I would never know. I have been an Honor Roll/ Dean’s List student in each one of these universities. I should be graduating from CCAD next December. Le Photogenique was founded in 2017 when I first decided I wanted to do photography for living. The choice of this name was picked by my father who is a big factor in why I am who I am today. Le Photogenique means The Photogenic in English. I started shooting friends and family at a young age when my parents bought me a Nikon camera after I graduated from High school. After I have been going back and forth from the Middle East to the United States, I have had the opportunity to meet and make connections with a lot of photographers around the world, work with them and learn their techniques and the way they think about photography.

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
My biggest struggle is that my family lives in Beirut, Lebanon still. I live here alone, and my father visits. I am in Columbus, Ohio so I can go to CCAD. For me to follow my dreams, it costs me to be away from my parents, siblings, nephews, and friends. I know that I have a brighter future here but I am always reminded by my parents that if I’ve gone this far, then, I’m gonna make it where I want to be.

As you know, we’re big fans of Le Photogenique. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about the brand?
Le Photogenique is a women-owned business. I have always loved capturing the moment and editing. The prominent theme in my work is editorial, portraits, fashion, and lifestyle photography. Since 2017, I have followed my passion for these genres of photography. Studying photography at CCAD has broadened my knowledge of my art and introduced me to new techniques. I keep returning to color contrast in my images, photographing with studio lighting, and using newfound tools to satisfy my love for light and celebration of the human form.

I’m a perfectionist when it comes to photography. A great shot, in my opinion, is created rather than taken. It’s about bringing out the best in each subject by employing the appropriate lighting, pose, and attitude; it’s all about being conscious of and anticipating the minor details.

I cherish the genuine and spontaneous moments we share as individuals the most; it is in these unplanned moments that I believe we are most beautiful. My goal in pursuing this art form is to capture a person’s true, vibrant personality.
