Rising Stars: Meet Mark Moats

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mark Moats.

Hi Mark, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
Inherently Lost started off as a side project while I was playing bass for Orwellian and the Vocalist for Torso Murder. I wanted to write heavy music that featured not only heavy vocals but clean vocals that also utilized keyboards, synthesizer, and samples.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Everyone being in multiple music projects was kinda tough to keep Inherently Lost moving forward, but we persevered and was able to write an Ep worth of material called Our Last Midnight.

We ran into another giant obstacle when the same week we released the Our Last Midnight Ep the worlds governments shut everything down due to Covid-19. We had quite a bit of PR setup and ready with the release. However, it is hard to gauge how much that affected the release of the Inherently Lost Ep ‘Our Last Midnight.’ One thing is true; it did not help.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m a musician at heart. Love playing all instruments, but spend most of my time on Vocals, Bass, Keyboards, and Rhythm Guitar.

I also started my own independent record label and music studio called Entwined Recordings. I record, produce, and promote for Entwined Recordings. Recently I have added photography under the Entwined umbrella.

Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
Being supportive of anyone else who has supported you in anyway is great way to keep meeting new people that will help you along the way. Even if they are in a different genre of music or art, being genuine really shows through to all involved.
