Today we’d like to introduce you to Alex Cornejo.
Hi Alex, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Well, I started dancing when I was 13 years old, Folklore dance of El Salvador and then the high school dance from there some teachers told me that I should be go to do classical ballet right away. I did ballet 19 years old (2002) from there my career as dancer began to dance with the company, festival, as guest of several countries and others companies as such as Cuba (Laura Alonso). After 15 years I moved to USA and I danced for 3 years in an Oyo dance company in Columbus Ohio and I am teaching at inspiration to movement.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The reason why was struggling for starting dance in this country was the language, but I knew a little bit about it. However, I went to the school in New Jersey where I learned a lot, I speak English, and I learned my speak of this state
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Apart from being a dancer, I am also a business administrator and a cook in a restaurant. I have had a great experience in this country. I like it teach Latin dances and cook.
I am proud of what I have achieved to date both in my personal and professional life, and I am recognized as the dancer Alex.
Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out.
If any of you started this beautiful art of dance do not stop working and persevere very much because we never stop learning and everything evolves. And I remember a part of me that always had the goal of being a main dancer, and let me tell you I achieved it thanks to perseverance and dedication.
