Meet Trevor Luther

Today we’d like to introduce you to Trevor Luther. 

Hi Trevor, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
13 years ago, I made friends with a guy that owned a craft beer bar. I found out quickly I loved craft beer. One year later, 12 years ago I received a Mr. Beer kit for Christmas from my parents and that’s when it became a passion of learning everything I could about the craft of making my favorite brews. 

Then about 7 years ago I was asked to become a part of creating, building, and brewing at a brewery in my adoptive hometown of Grove City. I become a partner and head brewer in 2016. 

Today I just finished an online certificate program in Brewing Science at Cornell University and continue to educate myself in all facets of the industry. We have a wonderful community that supports our brewery, winery, and restaurant which are all under one roof, to the point we are now expanding to an off-site production facility and shortly remodeling our brewpub to accommodate more guests. 

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
They say with any business if you make it through the first 2-3 years you are doing well. I would have to say there is truth to that. With being a small business and having a tight budget it only takes a small disruption in a very delicate place to cause issues. (Staffing, supply chains, equipment failures… pandemics) are just a few issues that come to mind. We are fortunate to have partners in our group with the passion, dedication, and knowledge to do what it takes to see it survive, that and love and support from a great community. 

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
To carry through how important it is to have support from your community, it’s important to show your appreciation for that community support. So, at Grove City Brewing Company we try and show that by collaborating and working with our other local businesses. 

We get coffee for our coffee brews from local rosters, we use freshly made donuts from our local donut shop. We buy hops and grains from local growers. In our scratch kitchen, we use local meats and produce. We also invite other local small businesses to brew with us to help with cross-promotion and to show a sense of Unity in the community. 

That, along with creating brews named after local legends and iconic streets or places has, in my eyes, helped make the community feel a bond with us as their hometown brewery. 

With the size of our brew house (3 bbl.), we have the flexibility to create some fun and unique brews with this local business which I love to create. 

Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
Lol, luck… I could write a book on how much luck, both good and bad have led me to where I am today. 

I consider myself a very fortunate person for where I am today. It has been luck, hard work, and tremendous support from my loving wife to my fantastic family, friends, and business partners. 

I’m not sure who said it but I have always liked the quote “The greatness of a man is not in how much wealth he acquires, but in his integrity and his ability to affect those around him positively.” I feel that my partners and I have created a positive, fun, and inviting place. Where people can enjoy time with friends and family or meet new friends and create new families. I am proud of knowing our community comes in to celebrate their life’s occasions in our place. 

I owe it to the good and the bad luck I have had in life that put me here to help provide that.
