Daily Inspiration: Meet Corrin Stacey

Today we’d like to introduce you to Corrin Stacey.

Hi Corrin, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Coming from a small town, we don’t usually get these kind of opportunities. Being asked what’s our story and actually getting a chance to tell it. I’m from Sandusky, Oh, a city so small you can get from one end of the city to other in 20mins.

I was born in ’93 on September 28, a lucky libra. I am a big-hearted lover, mother of 1, and the oldest of 9. Family is everything to me. And as I grow old and time reflects, I cherish every moment because tomorrow is never promised especially in the crazy world we live in today. My creativity keeps me afloat and my versatility reflects through my image. I’m always switching up my look, from my hair to my sneakers and heels. You may not even recognize me when you see me. My Style is my expression. I have a goofy, loving, carefree spirit that is forever smiling and laughing.

As I live, I noticed more. Where I was, what I want, who with, and when. Some things I adjusted too, some things changed, and some stayed the same. Really Realizing what matters most brings me passion and happiness, and just pressing play on my journey.

My grandma calls me the “jaco all trades”. She’s from Seoul, which makes me Korean, and also Black and Indian. Back home Folks call me Ling, and one thing they’ll say is “girl you can do everything.” I have a background in dental, being a lab technician, but I feel the most passion when I’m being a creative. Whether it’s in fashion, beauty, behind the a camera, or helping others.

Growing up I’ve always been a “do it yourself” person. If I don’t know how to do it, ill figure out a way. I researched and used any source around me. My favorite shows were Zoom and Out of the Box. Crafts and scrapbooking was my favorite as kid. Always doing something with my hands. I knew then I was creative but not realizing how much of a great creative I was at such a young age. I always found myself playing dress-up with siblings and using them as my models. Walking around in grandma’s heels and mink coats while wearing her favorite pink lipstick.

I’d say my passion for fashion came from my grandmother. She’s always flying, but hardly ever buys anything new. She Says the old is always better. I have so many of her ways instilled in me, I realize why it all makes sense. I am thrifter. It’s to the point where my closet is nothing but thrifted items. I love distressing clothes or sewing patterns, colors, and different materials to create new pieces. So, it’s never out with the old in with the new. It’s the best of both worlds. It’s like each item I create has its own history, but it starts a new story. The best part it’s a one-of-one piece.

I battled a lot about what I wanted to do in life. Yes, I have supportive family and friends, but no one with a creative background. So, at times it got frustrating. I just took a leap a faith and figured it out. I started clashing the two together, beauty and fashion. Slowly but surely trying to get myself out there. Giving out free items and services, photoshoots, fashion shows, you name it. But I still felt like I was in the same spot. I knew in order for me to succeed how I want to; I knew I had to go back to school. Now, I am currently a cosmetology student who will be finished in the fall and I have a home studio where looks are created. Once I receive my license, I will be a mobile cosmetologist using my license to provide services and design clothing all over the world.

My name is Corrin Stacey, Freemade “The Creative One Stop Shop” is my brand, and we create relationships first to make long-time memories. My mission is to seek and show the world the possibilities one can achieve through personality and creativity while expressing oneself through beauty and fashion. And to be known as a brand of expression worldwide through sight.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
They say He gives his battles to his strongest soldiers. It has definitely been a challenge trying to reach certain goals in this business. Not having a cosmetology license has made my obstacles more difficult but now that I am in school, the weight is finally starting to lift off my shoulders. Coming from a background that I knew nothing about business has been challenging but is starting to be very rewarding because I know this is what I want. If I would have had a smooth road, I wouldn’t have had a story to tell.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?

This brands creativity is bold, it stands out, and everything is one of one. Thus far, I am most proud that I was able to work with the youth. I had the honor of using my fashion services with upcoming business students who attended the Sandusky High school. I was able to show them business and casual looks for their future endeavors. I Was also was able to create a photoshoot so they could have appropriate photos for their business portfolios.

We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
Just being a kid and having no responsibilities, you don’t realize how much better it is being a kid once you’ve became an adult and a mother
