Life & Work with Richie Mckeever

Today we’d like to introduce you to Richie Mckeever.

Hi Richie, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Hi, My Name is Mr. Richie I own Quest dance Center in Beavercreek Ohio. I went to wright state university college for dance and business. After graduation, I opened a dance studio inside the Dayton Ohio Mall. While working at the studio in the mall, I had a named Nick who was on the spectrum and really enjoyed dancing. I did some research and realized that there are not a lot of opportunity with dance for kids on the spectrum so I decided to start having classes for kids with disabilities and on the spectrum. Special forces dance Team Today we have at around 30 students on our competition dance team. They perform all over the City of Dayton at Wright State Basketball half shows UD Basketball halftime shows and as well as 5 competitions a year. This group is amazing and everyone loves to dance and perform. Dancing helps with their social skills and motor movement skills. We are one big family and it’s such a blessing to be able to offer dance classes to everyone regardless of who they.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
The transition to offer classes for kids on the spectrum has been great it was a little slow going at first but once the word got out to the community more and more kids have sign up. The different challenge we faced was making sure we had the right amount of instructors as the class grows and finding a big enough building for the dancers. We are still growing strong and class sizes are getting bigger it’s such a blessing. Our goal is to open up the doors and minds of other studios and maybe they will offer some special needs dance classes.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am dance studio owner and dance teacher. Having the special needs dance classes is my most proud moments giving Kids a chance to dance while on the spectrum sets Quest apart from the studios.

Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
Just would like to say Quest Special forces dance classes are open for anyone on the spectrum we look forward in working with new kids and putting on amazing performances.
