Rising Stars: Meet Myriam Konate

Today we’d like to introduce you to Myriam Konate. 

Hi Myriam, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My name is Myriam Konate. I’m a cosmetologist and the owner at Allure Myko. I came up with my business name from the word “Allure” meaning Attraction, fascination, and beauty. 

I wanted my business name to be a constant reminder of the natural beauty that I love to bring out of people, with my product and services. 

I have been braiding since I was 10 years old, although I didn’t know back then that I would get this deep into the beauty industry, one of my favorite things I have always enjoyed has been making people look and feel amazing. 

The older I have gotten, the more I have realized that we all just want to live and enjoy life. Allure Myko is here to assure that we are all enjoying it, looking and feeling like the rockstar that we all are deep down. 

My specialty is making Custom wigs. I absolutely enjoy bringing hairstyles to life from just looking at a picture or inspiration from clients. 

One thing I hear the most is “I can’t believe you really made my hair look like the picture and you started from scratch!” 

I want great things for every single one of us. Allure Myko has been growing so fast, the beauty salon suites are full of other cosmetologists, and braiders to help service even more people through the city of Cincinnati and surrounding areas. 

We have lots of beauty tips and tricks on our website to help those who are not always able to get onto our appointment books; Our schedule can get busy so we have started creating reels on Instagram to help people learn in between salon visits and to reach people around the world. 

Here soon we will also have makeup and haircare tutorials in our YouTube channel as well.

My website is www.Alluremyko.com it showcases some hairstyle inspirations for people who are scared to try out something specific. I’ve tried it on myself, I list some of my favorite-colored wigs I’ve created and tips or tricks to prolong the life of your custom wigs or bundles. 

Overall, I’m where I am today thanks to the city of Cincinnati and the tremendous support I’ve received from the community. 

I love the fact that some of my customers have been loyal to me since the day they first booked one of my services and I’m eager to continue to build a clientele and trust with people in Cincinnati. Whether they live here or are just visiting and coming just to see us. 

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
One of my biggest struggle was finally trusting that I have what it takes to build a clientele and grow my business until I decided to fully commit to being self-employed. 

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?

One thing I’m most proud of is hearing “I can’t believe you really made my hair look like the picture. No one ever does my hair right!” I enjoy giving people exactly what they want 

Something that sets me apart is the amount of care I put into my work. I see everyone’s hair as a project that needs to be worked on over time and my clients receive that feeling through the details, I put behind my work. 

Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
Being Immigrants from Africa, my family are my biggest supporters through my journey. I learned how to do makeup, do weave, and make wigs on, or for my mother Isabelle and sister my Djenaba. 

It’s thanks to my brother/Website manager Ibrahim that I ever learned how to start and retwist locs. 

He has been doing such an amazing job from creating and managing my website my salon and online store traffic has grown tremendously
