Hi Paul, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
The ORION Electronics Company, Inc. is a global consumer electronics company founded at the Beijing University of Technology (BJUT) in 2013 by co-founders, Paul Perkins (CEO), Sydney Mwaimba (COO), Colin Curry (CDO), and Pius Gadosey (CTO). We are currently headquartered in Ohio, USA. We develop affordable, innovative, and eco-friendly products for the 21st Century. Our vision is to develop a more innovative and sustainable future, a vision we call the “Internet of Us™”.
In 2019, we begin development and design of our flagship product is the ORION Bike® and ORIONGo® App, an affordable, innovative, and Eco-Friendly Electric Bike and EV ride-sharing subscription App for students, young professionals, and low-income communities. And what we believe to be the “Future of Urban Travel™”
The bike is currently for sale online starting at $899 and we are currently raising capital to pilot our MaaS (Mobility As A Service) App ORIONGo.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I wish that was the case, we’ve spent the last 9 years building this company from the ground up in China and across multiple countries. The journey has been a challenging but fulling one and we are really just getting started! I know with the vision we have in mind for our products we will do great things in this world.

Honestly, I am just happy to wake up and work on my dreams every day. Growing up on the inner-East side of Columbus, OH, I always wanted more for my life but didn’t expect doing anything like I’ve been able to do.
As a graduate from the University of Cincinnati with a degree in Urban Planning and having worked internationally for some of the top construction and architecture companies in the world, I specialize in sustainable smart city and building design, master planning, and creating socioeconomic solutions for the future.
ORION and myself at the head provides a unique broadening of the spectrum for consumer electronics companies and BIPOC tech entrepreneurs. Our sole mission is to develop affordable, innovative, and sustainable products that can solve real problems for underrepresented consumers in the 21st Century. It really takes someone who has dealt with the problems firsthand to understand how to solve them and that’s what we are going to do!
If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
I see myself as a leader, connector, and innovator. I started my first business at just 8 years old and have had the entrepreneur bug ever since I made my first dollar. I’ve always dreamed of creating products that people fall in love with.
