Hi Shatera, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Hello, my name is Shatera Mayo also known as Mayo. I’m from Los Angeles, CA and I own an Ice Cream Company called Mayos Dream Rolled Ice Cream. I started Mayos Dream Rolled Ice Cream in 2020. I’ve always wanted to open an ice cream shop; I just didn’t want it to be your traditional shop. I wanted something that would be exciting for families, and friends to chill and hang out for dessert. I wanted a place that made people want to dream and take them away from their everyday troubles. A place to relax and be yourself. We have a motto here to dream & create. I wanted positive engagement and the great taste and smell of our fresh made-to-order, delicious rolled Ice cream and pints, to be enjoyed by everyone. As a kid growing up, ice cream was always my go-to favorite dessert of all time. I can have it when it’s snowing outside or blazing hot. I love it!
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
I think that anything worth obtaining, will never ever be a smooth road. When I started Mayos Dream Rolled Ice Cream, it was a massive hit, because the COVID pandemic had just kicked off. I was shopping around and looking for locations in Los Angeles, CA and then boom, everything is shut down. It was a setback because now, we weren’t able to leave home or even go look at store locations. I had to think outside the box, while still trying to pursue my dream of operating my Ice Cream business. I always believe God closes one door and opens another. I couldn’t stop pursuing my business and creating ideas so I continued to push forward and worked out of a commercial kitchen. That’s when we started creating and shipping our ice cream pints. The struggle will come but continue to push forward.
We’ve been impressed with MAYOS DREAM ROLLED ICE CREAM, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We are an independently owned and operated Ice Cream business. We put our hearts & souls into our craft and make both us & our customers happy. We are currently online at www.MayosDreamRolled.com and we ship our hand-crafted pints all over the U.S. We use fresh ingredients as well as fresh fruit in our ice cream from our local farmers. Our shop will contain over 31 flavors, and over 21 toppings, and every Sunday, we will have a different pop-up flavor. I am most proud of the brand because it’s a dream come true. I started from scratch. Creating an ice cream that our customers love. We have a lot of custom flavors as well as old-school flavors like a banana split. Our brand logo is a huge penguin holding a cup of rolled ice cream. I created this logo because penguins have always been one of my favorite animals as a child. We just want everyone to know that we love and appreciate them for supporting us. We want everyone who purchases our ice cream to enjoy it and hope we put a smile on their faces.
What are your plans for the future?
Our plans for the future are to collaborate and work with different companies to create a combo Ice cream flavor, that our customers would love.
