Today we’d like to introduce you to Jehan Daugherty.
Hi Jehan, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
I started Jehan LLC in 2009 under the name of Docuvent Photography after having worked in Corporate America for 12 years. I realized that I wanted something I could be passionate about and I was not finding that in the roles I had previously worked. I also noticed that there were not a lot of photos with my son and I in them together because I was always taking the photos of him. I wanted to provide a photography service that put the important people back in the photos. These are memories that are once in a lifetime. After creating a website and business cards I began to network and landed my first opportunity covering a salon opening. After that, I continued to meet others and pass out my business card with a great response. After several more years working in corporate and growing my business, I was able to work Jehan LLC Photography full time.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Although I absolutely love what I do, there were plenty of bumps in the road. I didn’t have a CRM initially so I was creating all of my documents in Micro Soft Office which was extremely time-consuming. I also experienced a horrible house fire and lost all of my things. It was a humbling experience but I received a huge amount of support from my community that was extremely helpful.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Jehan LLC Photography specializes in professional headshots and branding photos, but also provides services for senior photos, family, photos, and events. I am most know for my 100 Headshot Campaign that I started back in 2013. I started this campaign to service professionals in a mini headshot environment that gave them the opportunity to have a discounted professional; headshot. This event set my business apart because at the time no one was offering an opportunity like this in the communities and organizations I was a part of.
Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
I don’t give “luck” a lot of credit due to the amount of hard work it took to get to this point. Luck is a gamble to me and I’ve definitely put in more work than luck could ever payout.
