Meet Michael Keene

Today we’d like to introduce you to Michael Keene. Them and their team share their story with us below:

Voided Reality formed in 2018 when singer/guitarist Sam Cook and drummer Kevin Lee wanted to start a metal band after their last one broke up. They asked Michael Keene (me) and Alex Fisher to join on bass and vocals respectively. Caleb Hall joined a couple months later in response to a craigslist ad. Voided Reality has been tearing up Cleveland since then and has released our debut album “Hate Culture” in June 2021 on all major streaming platforms. 

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Some challenges that come up are definitely building a strong following/online presence and keeping a consistent, active schedule while keeping a balanced social and work life. 

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
We keep a good mix of groove, melody, and heaviness that we feel a lot of modern Metalcore bands lack 

The crisis has affected us all in different ways. How has it affected you and any important lessons or epiphanies you can share with us?
During the pandemic, we definitely realized how quickly things like shows could just stop and it’s when we decided to focus on recording and putting out our songs
