Today we’d like to introduce you to Dawn Kendrick.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Proud University of Missouri School of Journalism graduate here. I’ve reported and anchored the news for CBS, ABC, and NBC affiliates in Lafayette, IN, Columbia MO, St. Louis MO, and Cleveland OH. These are the stories I live for.
They are the stories viewers tell me resonated with them long after the newscast was over.

Now I am a repurposed news reporter telling only real, raw, vulnerable stories that uplift, encourage and inspire.
The Good Stuff Family believes authentic, genuine storytelling has the power to transform hearts.
We believe the best Good Stuff often comes from the worst of situations.
We believe everyone has a story and there is always a layer of Good Stuff when we take the time to look for it.
We believe in standing on faith, hope, and love while putting each of those words into action.
We believe it’s not an accident that when typing too quickly and an “o” is omitted, “The Good Stuff” becomes “The God Stuff”.
We believe we can change the trajectory of what constitutes good media with good storytelling that uplifts, encourages, and inspires.
We refuse to compromise with sensational, scary, and pandering.
We believe a life well lived is rooted in the practice of patience, humility, and gratitude.
We believe in “Together We Can. Together We Will”.
We believe in “God Weaves. Now Watch Him Work” and that those aren’t just words, but in fact, the tie that binds this Good Stuff Family together.
The Good Stuff Family:
Reaching and touching hearts around the world by weaving families together one story at a time.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
There have been SEVERAL DETOURS along the way. But what storyteller’s own great story is detour free? For me it all goes back to gratitude, especially in the things we never saw coming.
How about this detour that ultimately led me to Cleveland? I had just renewed my contract at the ABC affiliate in St. Louis when it was announced the entire newsroom was shutting down. The ABC affiliate in St. Louis…closing. My recently signed contract had a newly inserted clause that essentially said they could let me go “without cause”. Turned out that meant if they made what seemed like an unprecedented move and entirely shut down an ABC news affiliate in a top 25 market. Our news team, by the way, had recently won a local Emmy for Best Newscast. It was just after 9/11. By October 2001, we were all unemployed. Most were paid out the remainder of years on their contracts. Mine, freshly renewed because of the new clause, provided for a couple weeks severance, then “Good luck. You’re on your own.”
That led to an invitation to be a reporter at the CBS affiliate in Cleveland, a top 20 market that has been home ever since.
Patience.
Humility.
Gratitude…
Repeat.
I’m grateful still today for the ongoing journey that this reporter, this writer, this storyteller can’t script.
Patient, in constantly moving forward, one next best step at a time towards what feels more like a calling than a career. Grateful to tell stories that matter. Stories that uplift. Stories that encourage. Stories that inspire. My own journey becomes one of them.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a reporter proud to have told stories with authentic, memorable angles. I am also a motivational speaker, a livestream and podcast host and creator of The Good Stuff Family brand of stories. We are currently working on the perfect sponsored platform to tell these unique stories that count for something in the currency of encouragement, faith and hope.
I am most proud of the way my storytelling and work with nonprofits continues to weave people and organizations together. That’s what I hope my legacy is. “She believed the world is inherently good, that bad things happen to good people who rise up in spite of it and that God weaves and works through us.”
How can people work with you, collaborate with you, or support you?
We are in the process of producing a pilot about “Repurposed Lives: In The Middle Where All The Good Stuff Happens”. These are the stories of people from all walks of life who have reinvented or repurposed themselves to make their corners of the world a better place. We live by the mantra, “Together We Can. Together We Will,”. We believe a series of stories like these has the power to inspire and encourage and change the world one Good Stuff story at a time. We are searching for sponsors and collaborating on what would be the perfect platform to tell real, raw, authentic and vulnerable stories that change the trajectory of what constitutes good television and media. We believe avenues like Chip and Joanna Gaines’ newly created Magnolia Network could be the perfect fit.
Contact us if you believe in the stories we’re telling and to share your own Good Stuff Story.
