Meet Jemannie Severson Luong of Picnic Party Cincinnati

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jemannie Severson Luong. 

Hi Jemannie, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers?
Picnic Party Cincinnati started as a fantasy to own my own small business. I learned about luxury picnics from TikToks and thought, Cincinnati needs this! 

I have worked in the restaurant and event planning industries for years giving me a lot of experience with food safety, customer service, and other areas. My family has been in the restaurant industry for many years, so I saw first-hand what it was like for my grandparents and parents to own their own businesses. I always knew I wanted to someday do something of my own. (Plus being your own boss is always nice!) My interests in event planning led me in the direction of micro-planning. It was when I saw examples of luxury picnics (first established on the West Coast) that I knew I wanted to bring the idea to Cincinnati. The journey has been eye-opening and fun so far, and I can’t wait to see where it goes! 

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The road has been much smoother than I anticipated! I was lucky to connect with the Picnic Party brand that originated in Seattle, which gave me a huge head start. Of course, I have learned many things along the way about inventory, payment plans, organization, and much more. So far, the most complex thing for me are taxes and park permits. However, I am of the belief that things work themselves out the way they’re supposed to. 

We’ve been impressed with Picnic Party Cincinnati, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Picnic Party Cincinnati was born out of the belief that everyone deserves to be celebrated. We get so caught up in the every day that we can sometimes forget to enjoy life. Picnic Party Cincinnati strives to gather people around the table so that we can establish (or reestablish) the bonds that mean most to us. Meaningful relationships, unforgettable moments, and the ability to be present with each other – that is what you get out of a picnic party. 

Picnic Party Cincinnati strives to provide classy, personalized picnics for your special occasion. Whether you’re planning a Girl’s Night or a Proposal, we want things to go as smoothly as possible for you. We are very proud of our ability to be open and to listen to our client’s needs.

What makes you happy?
I believe happiness is found when the mind, soul, and body are at peace. There is a lot in life to have to worry about: money, bills, health, etc., but I think it’s when you do what you can within your ability and let the rest happen organically that true happiness occurs. Work hard, play harder is definitely a model I use in my everyday life. For me, happiness is about balance, peace, and family.
