Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessica Brown.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Ohio Artisan Collective was borne out of necessity in 2020, during the height of the Pandemic. We owned a woodworking company and the majority of our sales were done through outdoor markets and festivals. When the pandemic came crashing in, all of those events were cancelled. In order for us to survive, we needed a new plan. The store was born.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I cannot imagine that starting a business is ever a smooth road! Our biggest struggle is that we don’t know what we don’t know. The internet has become our best business coach!
We’ve been impressed with Ohio Artisan Collective, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Ohio Artisan Collective is currently home to more than 85 Ohio small businesses. Think Etsy shop but in person. All of the items in the store are made by Ohio small businesses.
Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
Keep asking questions until it makes sense. You don’t know what you don’t know. But chances are, someone has done it before you.
