Today we’d like to introduce you to Miranda Reynolds.
Hi Miranda, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself
Hello, I’m Miranda from Randa’s Crafty World. I make fusebead art, those little plastic, melty beads from the 90’s. I make pop culture and video game art out of them. In 2021 I launched my crafty parties, where I bring easy to follow, but fun, patterns for guests to follow along and we can get crafty together.
I always enjoyed helping my mother plan for the elementary parties she did as a room-mom. When it came time to plan school-aged parties for my daughter, I knew the most immersive route was hands-on crafts. When we first started having play dates for friends at school, the easiest craft for me to pull out were fuse beads. I make them all the time for presents, decor and so so much more.
he kids stayed entertained the whole time beading, being creative while my house still stayed clean.
I started out doing craft fairs, in November 2019, right before Covid hit. One thing was for sure kids LOVED my fuse beads, but even more, they wanted to create their own. I spent Covid prepping and learning how to make simple patterns that you can follow like paint by numbers, but with fuse beads.
Then the new adventure began, PARTIES! They have been so much fun and great for all ages, even those teens and young adults have enjoyed them.
This is the first year of parties and I cant wait to see where next year leads.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The most challenging thing is getting noticed and known. It’s a new and unique party, which means people don’t know what to accept. When they find out, the LOVE it.
Thankfully my local community has been great in helping me grow and expand.
It hasn’t been easy, but it’s been fun. You have to dedicate a lot of time to growing your brand, that you are ALWAYS working. My 8 year old ask me why I always tell everyone, everywhere about Randa’s Crafty World. That is marketing. It’s constantly working.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I do fuse bead art. they are tiny plastic beads you place on a pegboard in whatever design and then melt them together with an iron. I can make tiny beads for necklaces or extra large beads for decor or photo props.
I also offer craft workshops and parties when I bring the entertainment to you. It’s a simple fun set up and we can create patterns based on your theme. These are great for ages 6 and up and I have simple peg boards and sensory bins for younger guests.
I’m most proud to find a passion that provides me relief and smiles. Seeing the kids and parents while they craft away at their creation, they are laughing, they are in the very moment, just enjoying each other’s company and I have helped provide that. It’s being able to provide every kid that comes to my tables, something they are proud of, something they have created.
Are there any books, apps, podcasts or blogs that help you do your best?
Perlypop allows me to turn any photo into a fuse bead design. Perler.com or Artkal.com is where you can purchase beads and books.
I have just started working with TORG Gaming Expo and will be setting up the kid zone this year for their November expo in Columbus Ohio. It will be a real crafty time.
