Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. William D. Tobler Jr.
Hi Dr. Tobler, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I am originally from Cincinnati, Ohio. Following college at the University of Notre Dame, I returned home for medical school at the University of Cincinnati. During this time, I fell in love with the field of Plastic Surgery. Following medical school, I completed a residency in General Surgery at Boston University.
During my time in Boston, I was trained in the full field of General Surgery including Vascular Surgery, Surgical Oncology and Bariatric Surgery. As a chief resident, I was closely involved with the care of patients hurt during the tragic Boston Marathon bombing. Following graduation, I moved to Pittsburgh, PA to complete my training at The University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, which is ranked as the top training program in the country for Plastic Surgery. I then joined TriHealth in Cincinnati, Ohio and have been working here since 2017. My wife is also a physician, a radiologist, and works at The University of Cincinnati. We have three daughters.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
There are a lot of sacrifices made to become a Plastic Surgeon. After college, I went to 4 years of medical school. I was then in surgical training for 9 years where I was fully immersed in clinical care and research. My full attention was focused on this and therefore I missed a lot of life events with family and friends. Fortunately, I have great support and they were along the ride with me. Not only did I have to dedicate this time and make these sacrifices but so did my family members. It was not always easy, but I appreciate all that they did to help me through it. I really could not have done it without them.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a double-board certified Plastic Surgeon in Cincinnati, Ohio. I perform both reconstructive and cosmetic surgery. I love the diversity of procedures that I perform and the challenges they present. I work closely with cancer patients for reconstruction, particularly breast cancer patients. I also perform aesthetic surgery to help patients achieve their desired self-improvements. This includes procedures like facelifts, eyelid lifts, breast lifts and augmentation, tummy tucks, mommy makeovers, and more.
I am also a member of the Real Men Wear Pink Campaign by the American Cancer Society. Each year I raise money for Breast Cancer treatments and research. In 2021, I raised over $26,000, and over the course of the last three years, I have raised more than $58,000. The Cincinnati community is amazingly supportive and I am incredibly grateful for all the contributions, friends, family and local Cincinnatians have made.
How do you define success?
Finding happiness, joy and satisfaction in what you do.
