Today we’d like to introduce you to Antonio Hornung.
Hi Antonio, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My name is Antonio Hornung and I am a photographer based out of Piqua, OH. I am originally from Hamilton, OH but moved to Anna, OH when I was 12 years old. What actually caused me to move was that I went into foster care with my siblings and we were put in a foster home. Though this sounds terrible it was actually the biggest blessing I have ever received. It placed me with people I would end up staying with for life and would end up being my family. I started doing photography during junior year of high school.
At first, it was just me walking around taking pictures of whatever I thought looked cool, I actually at the time thought I would never shoot portraits because it didn’t interest me and I was nervous about having to work with people and having to give direction.
Over time, I got a little bored of just taking pictures of random things and decided to try portraits. Once I did this it completely changed my perspective and really my photography forever. I loved it. It gave me so much more room to be creative and put more flare into my pictures. I haven’t stopped taking portraits since. I have spent countless hours watching YouTube, reading articles and doing as much research into how to get better at photography as possible. It is my passion and allows me to show my creativity and gives me an outlet. Over the last two years my photography business has been growing so much and I am so excited to see where it takes.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No. Some of the struggles I’ve faced are having to work full time but also trying my best to manage and grow my business, creative burnout and struggling to find motivation and the constant struggle of figuring out how to grow my business and move forward.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a natural light portrait photographer. I shoot mostly portraits (seniors, family, maternity), weddings and sometimes cars! I specialize in portraits and wedding specifically pertaining to natural light. I am most proud of my personal editing style. I think what sets me apart from others is my photography editing style/look and my personality and the experience the customer gets having me shoot whatever they need!
What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
I think what is most important to my success is a constant want to improve and never being content with what I have, always looking to do better.
