Today we’d like to introduce you to Liv B.

Hi Liv, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My business and brand, SweetBoxCLE, was birth in the mist of a layoff 4-5 years ago. I was injured on the job and in recovery. I had time and endless ambition. I didn’t want to be idle and for years prior, I have started and ended numerous business ventures. This one, I was sure of. I always enjoyed things culinary and feeding others. I was NEVER a confident baker. It was a challenge I wanted to take on. I began self educating myself on the science of baking. I studied large and small companies. I studied independent bakers and went out locally to talk to bakery owners. I learned a lot and applied it. I worked on creating my own recipes. Lots of trial and error, lots of feedback from outsiders, going back to the drawing board SO MANY TIMES. Even up until this day, I’m writing this, I’m still perfecting my brand. However, SweetBoxCLE/SweetBox LLC saved my creativity, cured my sadness, grew my drive and motivation, and saved my life.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The road is still not smooth, LOL! Many struggles have risen over the course of this journey. Learning about business taxes and the 3-3-3 rule. Learning how to market my brand has been challenging as well. I’m not the biggest fan of content creation, but I am getting into it more.

We’ve been impressed with SweetBoxCLE , but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
SweetBox CLE LLC is an online bakery that participates in pop up events for local buyers. In the beginning, I would create and sell all the sweets imaginable. Now, I am niching my market down to only stuffed cookies, dessert bars, and pound cake. What sets SweetBox apart from others is our level of quality ingredients and the fact that each recipe has been curated using science and test trials.

Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
The weather is soooo nutty in Cleveland, OH. This is what I like the least. What I love about Cleveland is this city is truly diverse in every way. Culturally, ethnically, and creatively.
