Hidden Gems: Meet Beso Gavasheli of Bicycle House

Today we’d like to introduce you to Beso Gavasheli.

Hi Beso, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My passion for cycling started at a very young age in the country of Georgia. What began as a hobby quickly turned into a professional career, and over the years I became a seven-time Georgian National Mountain Bike Champion, a two-time National Time Trial Champion, and had the opportunity to represent Georgia internationally, including at the 2015 European Games. Cycling shaped who I am, teaching me discipline, perseverance, and the value of hard work.

After moving to the United States, I wanted to continue sharing my passion for the sport in a meaningful way. In 2021, I founded Bicycle House in West Chester, Ohio, with a simple goal: to create the kind of bike shop I always wished existed—a place where every customer receives honest advice, expert service, and feels genuinely welcomed, whether they’re buying their first bike or investing in a dream build.

Starting a business from scratch wasn’t easy. Like many small business owners, there were long days, difficult decisions, and plenty of challenges. But every obstacle reinforced my belief that success comes from consistency, treating people the right way, and never compromising on quality. We focused on building trust one customer at a time, and that approach has helped Bicycle House grow into one of the region’s premier destinations for high-end road, gravel, mountain, and triathlon bikes.

Today, I’m incredibly proud of what we’ve built. Bicycle House has become much more than a place to buy or service a bike—it’s a place where people connect through a shared passion for cycling and become part of a community.

At the same time, I truly believe we’re just getting started. We have some very exciting goals for the future, and if everything continues to go as planned, we’ll be able to share some incredible new projects with our community over the coming years. I can’t wait for people to see what’s next. Looking back, I’m grateful for every step of this journey, and I’m even more excited about what the future holds for Bicycle House.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Nothing worthwhile ever is. When you’re trying to do something that most people wouldn’t attempt, there are always challenges and plenty of people questioning whether you’ll succeed.

What helped me push through all of it was the confidence I had in myself, my background, and my experience in cycling. I knew how much this sport meant to me, and I believed that if I worked hard enough, I could build something special.

We started Bicycle House from absolutely nothing during one of the most difficult times possible—the COVID era. Many manufacturers and distributors weren’t even responding to new dealers, products were hard to get, and every day brought a new challenge. Looking back, it probably wasn’t the easiest time to start a bike shop, but I honestly love challenges. I enjoy difficult situations because they push me to become better.

I’ve always been motivated when people doubt me. Instead of letting it discourage me, it drives me to work even harder and prove that anything is possible with enough determination, consistency, and passion.

Considering where we started and how far we’ve come in such a short period of time, we’re incredibly proud of what we’ve accomplished. At the same time, I truly believe this is only the beginning. We have much bigger goals ahead, and we’re excited to continue growing and showing what’s possible when you never give up.

We’ve been impressed with Bicycle House, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Bicycle House is a premium cycling destination where passion, expertise, and exceptional service come together. Our goal has always been to create an experience that’s different from a traditional bike shop. We carry bicycles that many people have only seen online, along with some of the world’s rarest and most exclusive models. We love working on unique, high-end projects and helping riders build something truly special.

What also sets us apart is that we truly understand every discipline of cycling at the highest level. Whether it’s road racing, triathlon, gravel, or mountain biking, we have the experience and knowledge to help riders perform at their best. At the same time, we’re just as passionate about helping someone purchase their very first bike. Every customer receives the same level of care, attention, and honest advice.

As we continue to grow, we’re expanding our lineup with some of the world’s most respected, innovative, and exclusive cycling brands. While we’re proud to serve our local community, our vision extends far beyond Ohio. Today, we work with customers from all across the United States, and we’ve even had cyclists travel to Bicycle House from Canada and Mexico because of our reputation, expertise, and the unique bikes and services we offer. We’re also investing heavily in our online presence and have exciting plans to continue growing that side of the business.

Our service department is something I’m especially proud of. We believe we provide some of the highest-quality service with one of the fastest turnaround times in the industry. We pay close attention to every detail, enjoy solving difficult problems, and take on projects that many people think can’t be done. Our goal is to exceed expectations every single time.

Even though we specialize in premium bicycles, our doors are open to everyone. Whether you’re buying your first bike or your dream bike, you’ll receive the same respect, honest advice, and fair treatment. That’s the culture we’ve built at Bicycle House, and it’s something we’ll never compromise on.

We’re incredibly proud of how far we’ve come in such a short period of time, but we truly believe we’re only getting started. We have very ambitious goals for the future and are excited to continue growing, introducing new brands and services, expanding our reach, and sharing some exciting projects with our community over the coming years.

Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
Risk is one of my favorite topics. Honestly, I joke that risk is my hobby.

Where I come from, we have a saying: “If you don’t take risks, you don’t drink champagne.” I’ve always believed that’s true. Every meaningful achievement in my life has come from taking a chance, whether it was becoming a professional cyclist, moving to a new country, or starting Bicycle House from absolutely nothing.

I know a lot of people try to avoid risk because they’re afraid of failing. I look at it differently. Even if something doesn’t work out, it’s never a waste. Every failure teaches you something that no book, class, or mentor can fully teach. Those lessons become part of your experience and make you stronger the next time.

Building Bicycle House has involved taking risks almost every single day. Investing in rare, high-end bikes, bringing in new brands, expanding our business, and constantly thinking ahead all require confidence and a willingness to step into the unknown. Not every decision is easy, but I believe calculated risks are one of the biggest reasons we’ve grown so quickly.

For me, the biggest risk isn’t failing—it’s never trying at all. I’d rather take a chance, learn from the outcome, and keep moving forward than spend my life wondering, “What if?” That’s the mindset that has guided me throughout my career, and it’s one of the biggest reasons I believe Bicycle House is where it is today.
