Today we’d like to introduce you to Micayela Kinsey.

Hi Micayela, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My journey to entrepreneurship began with a simple act of obedience. After three years at the Department of Veterans Affairs Benefits Call Center—where I was honored with the Eagle Award, trained new employees, served on cultural committees, and traveled out of state for leadership opportunities —I was still being overlooked for promotions. In September 2019, after praying, I heard God say, “It’s time to go.”
I walked away with no backup plan—just my retirement savings, two children, and a new house. A month later, God gave me the vision for Grace Cleaning Company.
Not long after, I became pregnant with my third child, and then the pandemic hit. While many businesses grew, I was home raising my family. The journey wasn’t easy, but God’s grace never left me.
Today, with five children, a wonderful husband, and a business built on faith, I know my purpose is bigger than cleaning. After walking through my own mental health struggles, I understand the peace a clean space can bring. Grace Cleaning Company exists to serve others with excellence, compassion, and the same grace God has so generously shown me.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
There were many times I wanted to quit. Leaving a secure job with no backup plan, raising my family, navigating the pandemic, struggling with my mental health, and depending on God with my finances tested my faith. But through every setback, God reminded me of His promise. Every challenge has shaped my purpose and strengthened my belief that Grace Cleaning Company is about more than cleaning—it’s about bringing peace, hope, and grace into the lives of others.

Grace Cleaning Company provides eco-friendly residential and commercial cleaning services with a focus on creating clean, peaceful spaces that support overall well-being. We also specialize in organizing services for individuals experiencing life transitions, mild hoarding, or mental health challenges, offering compassionate, judgment-free support. What I’m most proud of is building a business rooted in faith, excellence, and genuine care for people. What sets us apart is that we don’t just clean—we serve with purpose. We believe a clean space can reduce stress, restore peace, and help people feel more in control of their lives, and we strive to make every client feel seen, valued, and cared for.

Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
What I love most about Cleveland is its resilience and sense of community. People genuinely support one another, and there are so many opportunities for small businesses to grow through local organizations, networking, and neighborhoods that believe in shopping local. Where I see growth can be made is in quality of resources and opportunities in certain areas of the city, especially when it comes to mental health support, economic development, and neighborhood investment. I believe Cleveland has incredible potential, and I’m grateful to be part of a city that’s continuing to grow and invest in its people.
