Rising Stars: Meet Charlotte LaVictoire of Ohio

Today we’d like to introduce you to Charlotte LaVictoire.

Hi Charlotte, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
All of my life I have been an artist. Nothing phased me or kept me from trying to capture images on paper, or making things of beauty for gifts or decoration. When I was 8 years old, my mom enrolled me at a local art gallery for art lessons where I studied under Lucia Ferrari. Her training gave discipline and focus to my artistic desires.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I have always been dyslexic. When I was in school a reading specialist said that one day reading would just click, but it never did. Instead, I have found ways to communicate and read outside of the conventional methods. I didn’t let that scare me from working up to a management position in my first job, and I also didn’t let it keep me from getting my BA degree this past spring.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Now that I am done with the rigors of academia, I am trying to figure out how to be a real artist. I think it’s going to take some reflection and just self-determination to make this something that people will like, and that will support me going forward.
