Conversations with Dawn Scadlock

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dawn Scadlock.

Hi Dawn, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Well it all started with my mother, Gail Cochran, She was a stay at home mother for 15years and after going thru a divorce – she knew she needed to find employment – so she worked for a travel agency for 6 months and decided to open her own agency. She bought an existing agency that was for sale. She worked extremely hard to build the business – joining committees, securing big corporate accounts, building her leisure business, and becoming involved in local and national organizations. So she left me in a great spot. We have survived thru the internet, 911 and covid. We have a great reputation in the Cleveland area and nationally. We continue to attract new clients and have a fabulous refferal business. Clients trust us. We build relationships that last

I took over the business in 2008 and continued to expand our leisure business. Increasing sales and started doing a lot of group travel. We love what we do here at Flite II Travel

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Oh – so many struggles. During covid shutdown we were not sure we were going to make it thru – In fact if it had lasted a couple more months we would have had to shut down. Another struggle is finding employees (full time )travel agents with experience.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Traveling and facilitating the travel of others is my passion! My travel expertise has been honed over the last 40 years and my relationships in this industry are global. I have been mentored by, and followed in the footsteps of my mother, Gail Cochran, who started Flite 2 Travel over 50 years ago. We have continuously been on the cutting edge of the travel business, offering expertise I developed by working with the best travel gurus and Companies in the business. Working with people and helping create life-long experiences and memories is what I love about this business! We have been a part of epic, worry-free and flawless weddings, all-inclusive vacations, global trips and cruises, building long-lasting relationships along the way. Personally, I have traveled to Europe, the Caribbean, Africa, including South Africa and West African safaris, Asia (South Korea, Tokyo, etc). Let’s work together to ensure your next fabulous trip is simply perfect!

What does success mean to you?
Success to me is being the best I can be for myself and others. By reaching goals that I set for myself and helping others reach their goals. I believe in lifting others up. Staying open minded, continue my love of learning, to be consistent and reliable
