Community Highlights: Meet Ebony Jones of Glam Scents

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ebony Jones.

Hi Ebony, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
To start off, I knew I always wanted to run a business; I just didn’t know what I wanted it to be. I remember being in school while working full-time and feeling stressed and overwhelmed trying to balance everything.

My mother bought me a candle for my birthday. One night after work, I decided to light it, take a bubble bath, and turn on some music. As I laid down for a second, I realized how much better I felt just by doing those simple things.

At that moment, I knew there were so many people out there feeling the same way I was and that they might just need to take some time for themselves. That night was when I realized I wanted to make candles.

Fast forward to now, and how I got to where I am today, I would have to say it was through faith and determination. Knowing that my purpose is within my business helps me keep going, and it helps me understand my “why” through it all.

To everyone else, it might just be a candle, but for me, it’s being able to connect with someone in a small way. Being kind and making a positive impact, no matter how small, is what truly matters to me.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has not been a smooth road at all. I think that was the hardest part for me not understanding that it’s more than just owning and running a business. So many other factors play a big role in it. There are long days, difficult decisions, sacrifices, and moments where you question whether you’re doing enough. I quickly realized that running a business requires patience, discipline, resilience, and a willingness to keep learning every day.

One of the struggles I had along the way was not being consistent with my business and not being confident when it came to running it. I think I hindered myself and my business by always being in my head and putting things on the back burner. Fear of failure and self-doubt often caused me to second-guess my decisions, and instead of taking action, I would overthink everything. Looking back, I realize that waiting for the “perfect time” only delayed the growth that could have happened if I had simply believed in myself.

One thing I learned from that is to take charge and be confident in everything you do, both in business and in your personal life. Confidence doesn’t mean having all the answers it means trusting yourself enough to keep moving forward even when things feel uncertain. I’ve learned that consistency is what creates progress, and small steps taken every day are better than waiting for everything to be perfect.

My journey has taught me that every setback is a lesson, every challenge is an opportunity to grow, and every obstacle has made me a stronger business owner. I still have goals I want to accomplish, but today I face them with a different mindset. I know that growth comes from showing up, believing in yourself, and refusing to give up. Every challenge I’ve faced has shaped me into the entrepreneur I am today, and I’m grateful for every lesson along the way because it has made both me and Glam Scents Candle Company stronger.

Glam Scents Candle Company is more than a candle business it’s a self-care experience. We specialize in handcrafted candles and interactive candle-making experiences, including our signature Lit Convos & Candles events, where guests can create their own custom candles while enjoying meaningful conversations, creativity, and relaxation.

What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
The most important lesson I have learned throughout my journey is that no matter how many times you have to start over, do it. Never be afraid to begin again, and understand that whatever you have set your mind to, you can accomplish.

There will always be challenges and obstacles along the way, but with determination, faith, and the willingness to keep going, everything will work out in your favor. Believe in yourself, trust the process, and remember that every step forward is part of your journey.
