Conversations with William Ryan

Today we’d like to introduce you to William Ryan.

William, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Well, being the creative here in the city of Columbus doing Music poetry and songwriting in general. I needed another outlet recently married. And having a teenage creative I need another outlet to express Music, creativity, and how all of these things can be therapeutic. It started with a small conversation with one of my best friends that that I posted on Instagram and it sparked to be something even bigger going into year one and some change. Honestly, we’re doing this my wife and son really inspired me to really put the pedal to the meadow. And they’re passion for music. as well they’ve seen growth in conversations and we have had conversation and what Music means to us all. And another reason is because I wanted to make sure that people around me had a platform where they can display their thoughts, emotions and feelings on things and gaining a new audience, as well as the new audience having the opportunity understand who these people are and what they do in the thought process behind it. And be able to grow with him as well.. with all of that that’s how IN THE WHIP PODCAST was created.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I don’t know how to answer that question to be honest. Because I understand with growing this new platform, it won’t be smooth, but some things came easier than others what it did teach me that sometime I really struggled and was consistency and routine, and I feel like that came a very long way with how they episodes dropped communication between the guests they come on and actually breaking down or configuring the way that the show would go!

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Well, in putting together a podcast, there is somewhat of a format. I like to be as less performative as possible. I do want to be organic so we do look to make our guest feel welcome and comfortable with little small icebreakers, and then we jump into their backstory as well as making them feel this comfortable as possible. What are most proud of is being able to hear the backstory on the journey of these creative as well as my friends to know where they came from and how far they came motivation drive and determination

Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
I do believe taking a risks are necessary. The reason why is because if you don’t take them, you’ll never know what lies on the other end of it. Well, this podcast was a risk taker. I would say the process of learning editing learning how algorithms work as well as building building an audience for it. Because you’re learning in real time.
