Daily Inspiration: Meet Charnise Lewis

Today we’d like to introduce you to Charnise Lewis.

Hi Charnise, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I initially started taking Pilates and hot yoga as a form of self-care and a way to manage the stress that came with working as a registered nurse and everyday life. What began as simply taking time for myself quickly grew into a passion I never expected. The more I practiced, the more I realized how much these disciplines were transforming not only my physical health, but also my mental well-being and confidence. That inspired me to become an instructor so I could create that same experience for others—especially within my community. Today, through The Jewell Method, my goal is to make movement approachable, welcoming, and empowering, helping people discover that wellness isn’t about perfection—it’s about showing up for yourself one step at a time.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I wouldn’t say I’ve faced many major obstacles so far, and I’m grateful for that. Since I’m still in the early stages of building The Jewell Method, I understand that growing a community takes time. I don’t see that as a setback—I see it as part of the journey, the testimony, and the process of building something meaningful. I’ve been welcomed with open arms, and the encouragement and positive feedback I’ve received has reassured me that this work is needed.

If I had to identify one challenge, it would be availability. I’m a registered nurse, a mother, and now a business owner, so balancing those responsibilities while trying to serve my community can be difficult. Right now I’m only able to offer classes about once a week, but my vision is to eventually make wellness more accessible by expanding my class schedule and reaching even more people. That’s what I’m actively working toward.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I currently work as a travel registered nurse specializing in medical-surgical telemetry. As a bedside nurse, I work 12-hour shifts caring for patients from all walks of life. While the clinical aspect of nursing is important, what I value most is the human connection. I strive to brighten someone’s day by greeting them with a smile, offering encouragement, and making them feel seen and cared for, even if we’ve just met.

I truly believe kindness and compassion can make a lasting impact, especially during someone’s most vulnerable moments. If I can leave a patient feeling a little more hopeful, a little more comfortable, or simply knowing someone genuinely cared, then I’ve done my job.

That same philosophy is what inspired me to create The Jewell Method. Whether I’m caring for patients in the hospital or guiding someone through a Pilates class, my mission is the same: to help people feel better physically, mentally, and emotionally. I believe movement, much like healthcare, has the power to heal, restore confidence, and improve quality of life. What sets me apart is that I don’t simply teach exercise—I strive to create an experience where people feel welcomed, supported, and empowered every time they show up to a class.
