Meet Jennifer Wilkins of Ohio

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jennifer Wilkins.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My interest in art and photography began during the pandemic. My office was shutdown and I need something to keep me busy. I started driving through the famous Spring Grove Cemetery and Arboretum and would get out of the car to photograph interesting monuments and mausoleums. Then I started taking an interest in graffiti and infrastructure.
I also started painting during that time and ended up in a gallery and with solo shows. I eventually returned to my real career, but never stopped creating. I now have a decent business selling my work off of my website, ladyjeni.com.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I deal with a ton of stress in my career, so there have been spells where I have no creative energy to spare. Then, I realized, that my art could help alleviate the stress. It took time, but now I go out to photograph a few times a week. It has helped me balance work and life.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I don’t have one catch all style. I do tend to go dark in my photography, maybe edit to bring out one color against a black and white background. Then I’ll be in a mood to switch it up and go full blast on color. It’s all based on how I feel.
I am most proud of the website I built for my art. I don’t believe there’s anything that sets me apart from other artists. The great thing about artists is that everyone has their own unique view, and their work shows that.

So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
I love collaborating. Anyone who wants to can contact me through my website www.ladyjeni.com or on Instagram @the_lady_jeni.
