Today we’d like to introduce you to Christopher Cropper.
Hi Christopher, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I’m basically self taught with some formal training. I come from a graffiti/street art background and it heavily influences my work. I’ve been at it almost 30 years now.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Not always. I have made a lot of sacrifices over the years and have put blood sweat and tears into my work. Everything from fickle people/situations, the list goes on.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I paint/draw/do murals/commissions and some design. I specialize in visual art, and am known for my style of work which is best described as urban abstract expressionism. I’m most proud of going as far as i have as an artist in general (international even). What sets me apart is the work itself, I have a very unique style of work which sets me apart from others.
What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
That as much as it’s grown it’s still a big/small city with thriving music scenes and visual art is still respected, and there are opportunities for artists here. The gentrification is not something I care for
