Today we’d like to introduce you to Melissa Arey.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I have always had a passion for creating and an eye for detail. Working as a graphic designer while earning two degrees from the University of Cincinnati, I started my career by designing all kinds of marketing materials for both small and large businesses. After graduating and getting engaged to my high school sweetheart, I fell in love with creating stationery and firsthand experienced just how important every single wedding detail is. During my own wedding reception, I received my first design inquiry!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Not at all! My small business started out more like a hobby but then and now my main struggle has always been time management. Since my business consists of only me, I wear a lot of hats and sometimes struggle juggling it all.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am an artist and small business creator, specializing in wedding invitations and stationery. My clients love the personalized designs and handcrafted details to create a unique, one-of-a-kind invitation and experience. I truly love getting to know every bride, groom and sometimes even the mother-of-the-bride, and making this process entirely enjoyable and stress free!
Any big plans?
No big changes. I am currently in the process of redesigning my semi-custom suites to appeal to even more clients. They are able to be customized as much or as little as necessary but it gives a really wonderful starting point, and for some couples, it’s much easier for them to visualize their own dream designs. I’m excited to be rolling it out in the very near future!
