Today we’d like to introduce you to Crystal McCray.
Hi Crystal, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My journey into massage therapy started from a very personal place. While my mother was battling cervical cancer, I saw firsthand how therapeutic massage helped reduce her pain and improve her quality of life. That experience inspired me to become a Licensed Massage Therapist because I wanted to make that same kind of impact for others.
As my career grew, I also experienced my own weightlifting injuries, which sparked my passion for understanding the body on a deeper level. I pursued advanced training in myoskeletal alignment and focused on finding and treating the root cause of pain rather than simply addressing symptoms.
That passion led me to start Cincinnati Muscle Therapy, where I help active adults, athletes, and people living with chronic pain move better, hurt less, and return to the activities they love. Today, my mission is to provide personalized, results-driven care while also educating people about their bodies so they can take an active role in their own recovery.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
No, it definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Like many small business owners, I’ve faced challenges building a business while wearing every hat—from providing hands-on care and managing day-to-day operations to marketing, finances, and administrative work. As a massage therapist, there’s also the physical demand of the profession, which has taught me the importance of taking care of my own body while caring for others.
There have also been moments of uncertainty, especially as healthcare and the wellness industry continue to evolve. But every challenge has pushed me to grow, continue my education, and refine my approach. Those experiences have made me a better clinician and business owner.
Today, I’m proud of the trust I’ve built with my clients and the reputation Cincinnati Muscle Therapy has earned for providing personalized, results-driven care. The challenges have only strengthened my commitment to helping people move better, hurt less, and live healthier lives.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Cincinnati Muscle Therapy LLC?
Cincinnati Muscle Therapy specializes in therapeutic massage and myoskeletal alignment for active adults, athletes, and individuals living with chronic pain. Rather than providing a one-size-fits-all massage, I focus on identifying and treating the root cause of pain through detailed assessments, posture analysis, movement evaluation, and personalized treatment plans.
What sets my practice apart is my clinical approach. Every session is tailored to the individual’s needs with the goal of restoring movement, reducing pain, and helping clients return to the activities they enjoy. I also believe education is a key part of recovery, so I take time to help clients understand why they’re experiencing pain and what they can do between visits to maintain their progress.
I’m most proud of the trust I’ve built within my community and the meaningful results my clients achieve. Seeing someone regain mobility, return to work or sports, or simply enjoy life without constant pain is what drives me every day.
As Cincinnati Muscle Therapy continues to grow, my mission remains the same: to provide evidence-informed, personalized care that empowers people to move better, hurt less, and live healthier, more active lives.
Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc?
I’m a lifelong learner, so I regularly invest in continuing education through courses, anatomy resources, and research on pain science, movement, and rehabilitation. I also enjoy listening to podcasts focused on health, wellness, business, and personal development because they expose me to new ideas and perspectives that I can apply in both my practice and my life.
Books that focus on anatomy, movement, and human performance have had a tremendous impact on my approach to treatment, and I believe learning never stops in healthcare. I’m also passionate about educating others, which inspired me to launch the Muscle Relief 101 Podcast. Creating the podcast encourages me to continually research, learn, and share practical information that helps people better understand their bodies and take an active role in their own recovery.
