Richert Games is a local gaming company founded by the RIchert brothers. Our company was born from a lifelong passion for inventing, building, and playing original games. At Richert Games, fun isn’t just something we create—it’s part of who we are. As kids, we were always dreaming up new ways to challenge each other, create unforgettable memories, and bring people together. What started as a childhood hobby grew into a dream of becoming entrepreneurs and sharing our creativity with families everywhere.

Our mission is simple: design exciting, family-friendly, and inclusive games that turn ordinary gatherings into unforgettable experiences.

The Story Behind Hexahole

Hexahole began with a problem many families know all too well—our family grew, and suddenly our favorite yard games no longer worked. With more than four players and often an odd number of people, someone was always left sitting on the sidelines.
We knew there had to be a better way, So we got to work.

After countless sketches, prototypes, playtests, and design improvements, Hexahole was born. Every adjustment was made with the vision to create a game that’s easy to learn, exciting to master, portable and designed to accommodate varying player numbers.

The result is a fast-paced game that combines strategy, skill, and friendly competition while keeping everyone involved. Whether you’re playing with family, friends, neighbors, or coworkers, Hexahole is designed to bring laughter, competition, and lasting memories to every gathering.

This is just the beginning. At Richert Games, we’re always dreaming up the next great way to bring people together—one game at a time.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The Journey to Hexahole

Bringing Hexahole to life was a journey filled with challenges, determination, and countless hours of hard work.
Our first milestone was building a dedicated workshop where we could design, prototype, and manufacture each game by hand. This gave us the opportunity to refine every detail while staying true to our vision.

From there, the real engineering began. We set out to create something truly different—a game that was unique, durable, compact, and easily portable without sacrificing quality or gameplay. Achieving that vision required extensive research, countless design revisions, and numerous prototypes. We tested a variety of materials and construction methods, continually refining every component until we created the design we had envisioned.

Protecting our innovation became the next challenge. Securing a patent required extensive research, careful planning, and a significant investment of time to ensure Hexahole was truly original and worthy of intellectual property protection. It was a demanding process, but one that reinforced our commitment to creating something genuinely new.

Just as we were preparing to move forward, the post-COVID landscape introduced a new set of obstacles. Rising material costs, supply chain disruptions, and an uncertain economy created challenges that affected businesses across the country. Rather than allowing these setbacks to define us, we adapted, persevered, and remained committed to bringing Hexahole to market.
Every obstacle strengthened our resolve. Every challenge refined our product. Today, Hexahole represents more than just a game—it represents perseverance, innovation, and the belief that with enough passion and determination, an idea can become reality.

Brothers Todd and Troy Richert have been creating games and dreaming up new ideas since they were kids. What began as a childhood pastime quickly became a shared passion for designing unique games that challenged players, sparked laughter, and created lasting memories.

As adults, their paths led them to successful careers—Todd earned his Doctorate in Physical Therapy, while Troy completed his MBA. As they each began raising families, they discovered a familiar challenge: many traditional yard games were designed for only a few players, often leaving someone on the sidelines. Rather than accepting the problem, the brothers saw an opportunity to create something better.

That idea became the foundation of Richert Games.

Determined to bring their vision to life, they built their own workshop by hand with hours of craftsmanship they transformed a childhood dream into the family business it is today.
