Inspiring Conversations with Jordan Lear of 1835 Event Hall

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jordan Lear.

Hi Jordan, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
The decision to purchase the historic building in downtown Covington was driven by our deep-rooted love for the community and commitment to its development. We recognized the building’s potential to become a cornerstone for social gatherings, celebrations, and business events. By restoring and repurposing the structure, we aimed to preserve its historical significance while introducing modern amenities that cater to contemporary needs.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The road has been rocky to say the least. The hurdles of restoring a 19th century building to meet today’s building codes and small town politics was beyond frustrating but we persevered and finally opened our doors after nearly two years.

As you know, we’re big fans of 1835 Event Hall. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
The creation of the 1835 Event Hall was more than an architectural endeavor; it was a catalyst for economic growth. The Lear Family envisioned the hall as a magnet for visitors and businesses alike, drawing attention to Covington’s downtown area. Weddings, corporate gatherings, parties, and diverse events hosted at the venue generate increased foot traffic, stimulating local commerce and encouraging other businesses to set up shop in the vicinity.
The Lear Family’s commitment to preserving history while championing modernity has created a timeless venue that stands as a testament to their dedication and love for Covington, Ohio.
By investing in the 1835 Event Hall, the Lear Family hopes to transform downtown Covington into a thriving hub of activity, attracting visitors, stimulating local economy, and fostering community spirit. Their efforts hope to ensure that the history and charm of Covington are preserved while embracing the future, creating a venue where memories are crafted, and the past and present converge in harmony.

How do you define success?
Success, to me, means being genuinely satisfied and proud of the work I do and the life I live. It is not only about money, titles, or recognition, but about knowing I gave my best, treated people the right way, and built a life I can feel good about.
