Life & Work with Amy Lynn of Akron, Ohio

Today we’d like to introduce you to Amy Lynn.

Amy, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I was born in Akron, Ohio, I’ve spent more than 25 years working across voice acting, writing, podcasting, and digital media. I didn’t follow a straight path. I built my career piece by piece while being a caregiver for my father, freelancing, and teaching myself every skill I needed along the way. What started as small creative projects eventually grew into a full multi‑disciplinary career: voice‑overs for games and audiobooks, podcast production, writing, web design, and digital content creation.

Over time, I became known for being resourceful, self‑taught, and able to build things from the ground up. That led me to create PurelySaid, the platform I founded to support people who are grieving. My work has reached audiences across podcasts, digital media, and grief‑support communities. Today, I work as a voice actress, author, podcaster, and digital creator — roles that have led to recognition such as being named the 2025 Bliss Business Awards Podcaster of the Year. My notable work includes the podcasts Faith and Tech Bytes with Amy Lynn and The Geek and The Detective.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It hasn’t been a smooth road. I’ve had to rebuild my career more than once while caring for my father, navigating personal loss, and teaching myself every skill I needed because I didn’t have a team or a roadmap. But I’ve also been blessed along the way. Every challenge taught me something I ended up needing later.

In the early 2000s, before accessibility was even a conversation, my voice‑over website was fully ADA‑friendly. Screen readers weren’t common yet, but I built my site so blind and low‑vision clients could navigate it easily, and I ended up with more visually impaired clients than seeing ones. That experience shaped how I approach everything: build with intention, include people, and stay adaptable.

Those lessons in resilience, accessibility, and learning by doing are what carried me through the hardest seasons.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m a voice actress, author, podcaster, and digital creator. My work spans games, audiobooks, narration, podcast production, writing, and digital media. I’m known for having a warm, clear voice and for being able to build entire projects myself: audio, design, writing, and tech.

My work is rooted in faith. Everything I create is meant to encourage, comfort, or lift someone up. That includes my podcast, Faith and Tech Bytes, where I talk about technology, culture, and faith in a way that’s accessible and honest. I also co-host The Geek and The Detective, which lets me bring my love of tech, creativity, and storytelling into an educational, community-focused space.

PurelySaid, my platform for those who are grieving, is one of the things I’m most proud of. It grew out of my own seasons of loss and the belief that God can use our hardest moments to help others feel less alone.

Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
Everything in my career has been guided by God. He opened doors I couldn’t have opened myself, connected me with the right people at the right time, and gave me the strength and wisdom to keep going when things were hard. Any success I’ve had is because He equipped me, taught me, and blessed me with opportunities I never could have created on my own.

I’ve had supportive clients, friends, and collaborators over the years, but the credit belongs to God first. He’s the one who led me, provided for me, and shaped every part of my journey.
