Today we’d like to introduce you to Paulette Romito.
Hi Paulette, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I was approached to help our Seniors transition to their new homes. I have found this career path so enriching and fulfilling. I am dedicated to helping older adults and their families navigate every stage of the relocation process with confidence, compassion, and clarity. With a gentle approach and a strong organizational skill set, my team understands that a move is far more than a logistical event—it’s a deeply personal journey. Smooth Transitions has a background spanning over a decade in senior services, transition planning, and home organization, Smooth Transitions specializes in guiding clients through downsizing, move preparation, and resettling into their new homes—always with a focus on dignity, respect, and personalized care.

We collaborate closely with families, care communities, real estate professionals, and service providers to ensure every project is handled smoothly from start to finish. Our expertise helps families reduce stress, minimize being overwhelmed, and ensure a seamless transition during what can be an emotional life change.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
As smooth road – that’s hard to identify. Working with family dynamics at a most stressful time in their lives can be a challenge. But the moving part is not just logistice, it’s the moment whan a senior life changes, and the home once felt stable becomes complicated, unsafe, or simply too much to handle. We exist for that moment. Where we come in, we can remove that pain and stress from the family. It can be a sudden medical need, a move into independent living, assisted living, or memory care, and a house full of decades that still has to be sorted, packed, and cleared, all while relationships and emotions run hot.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Our scope of work includes, but is not limited to operational, floor plans, packing systems, project management, estate clearing, moving and resettling but it is also emotional by design. The mission that ties those pieces together is “same heart, new home” a phrase that shapes how we train, hire, and show up in living rooms across all of North Central Ohio.
Smooth Transitions traces it’s roots to Louisville, Kentucky, where founder Barbara Morris started the company roughly 30+ years age. Morris is someon who saw what was coming before most people did: an aging population, increasing complexity around senior transitions, and families who would need a professional, structured service to handle move than just the physical move.
We are the turnkey process that turns chaos into a “reveal”. Our work begins with a coimplimentary consultation. We tour the home, explain our services, and build a plan around what the client wants and what the transition requires. Every move is unique to the families needs and our services can be bundled together for a comprehensive plan or an al la carte depending on the families needs.
What does success mean to you?
The emotional protection is part of our job, because the move itself can trigger fear, grief, and a sense of lost control.
We protect oour people’s emotional health. The focus shows up in training and in hiring. Our success is built on seeing the relief in families eyes, that gently hug – showing us their appreciation.
Success is not in the numbers, it’s in the heart and the mind of every client.
