Daily Inspiration: Meet Lisa Kovac

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lisa Kovac.

Hi Lisa, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My history in the Photo Booth industry consisted of my daughter’s wedding. She came to me with this idea of a photo booth rental and I told her it was a waste of money. I had not seen or experienced one, but we were trying to keep the budget down.
My daughter being my daughter, she rented it anyway.

I stand on record saying it was the best part of the wedding. We had a riot. They had props, and they did prints, and we had a ton of fun. I was wrong, and I wondered if they had smaller models of booths that a woman could carry? Even an older woman like me, What a fun job for retirement!

2 years ago I went to an awards night celebration and they had the Salsa I photo booth set up, and it was small, sleek a most of all – light weight. The guy at my daughter’s wedding had the vintage type with the big box that has a bench to sit on. I knew it would be too much for me. But this! THIS! This I wanted! I did my research and made my first purchase of a booth in March of 2024. Freeze Frame Foto was born.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The biggest struggle was I had no experience. I literally opened a business that I have never known nor done.
Being the bullheaded person that I am (like mother, like daughter), I was convinced I could learn it. Well, I learned it and I have thrived but I did it the hard way. I should have taken training from the big guys in the business. Instead, it was twice as hard. Then I began to network, and now I am doing training classes to help grow my business instead of reinventing the wheel.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
What sets us apart is the amount of. time we spend customizing to our customer’s taste, and the amount of props we have.

Custom-Designed Experiences, Not Templates
I never rely on generic layouts. Every design — overlays, animations, screens, galleries — is custom-made to match:

Event themes
Brand aesthetics
Families’ personalities
Colors and moods
My booth feels fully tailored, not pre-packaged.

I constantly push for:
Unique color palettes
Creative layouts
Holiday and fantasy concepts
Seasonal specials
Fresh visual ideas

Clients love that my work never feels repetitive.

We have custom pricing versus hourly pricing (this is a recent change and gives us and the client’s more flexibility).

We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
In my business, I guess we have been lucky that we have an engaging photo booth operator that everyone loves! They all want Melinda because she draws them in, laughs and helps them pose, and they love her.

We also are diligent about keeping our firmware and software updated so we are lucky that we have not experienced some of the issues we see other photo booths having during events.

In my life, I am very lucky. I have 3 beautiful grown adult children, 2 step children, and 2 grandbabies. All are very healthy. What more can you ask for?
