Antwain Shaw-huff’s Stories, Lessons & Insights

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Antwain Shaw-huff. Check out our conversation below.

Antwain, it’s always a pleasure to learn from you and your journey. Let’s start with a bit of a warmup: What is a normal day like for you right now?
Normally my days have been filled with consistency and colors. I’m at the point in my lif, I know that consistency trumps all weight no matter if it bad or good. I also think when you’re consistent you tend to pinpoint a focus and let that keep your time occupied. I mentioned colors because of the continuance of colors I purchase and mix growing on me from time to time , as I consistently use these colors I always add a new color I mixed or a color I just found out about.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I am Antwain Shaw-huff, Cincinnati Ohio native. I attended high schools here along with my attendance at the University of Cincinnati where I recited a degree in fine arts and graphic designs. I also am a muralist with a growing mural company called “Paris Abstract”. The mural company is going on 8 years and some day, I plan to keep operating for as long as possible with some efforts from me to pass down to another generation after me.

Okay, so here’s a deep one: What was your earliest memory of feeling powerful?
As early as I can remember I was in kindergarten getting ready to start a class activity with my classmates. The activity was a word learning coloring book that I was terrible at doing. I remember my teacher calling one of my female class mates over to help me use the crayons the correct way and as lightning and gentle as possible. From that time I grew older and always look back and wonder how my old class mate is doing

What fear has held you back the most in your life?
I have a fear that hold me back but keeps me going………. I fear I wouldn’t be able to distribute enough art in this life time. But I also think it’s some- what possible , I would have to focus a little more on my health and time that I am ultimately preparing for.

Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. Is the public version of you the real you?
I give the public the professional version of me that I always wanted to be in life, versus me in real life I’m my natural self from back when I was a child. I tend to not change at all unless it’s about fit or style in my art. I don’t really respect people changing how they were raised unless it for the better of you and your health.

Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. If immortality were real, what would you build?
If immortality were real I would build an under tomb /pyramid the stick half way out of the ground . I would have it designed to be an art gallery that only family may visit. I would be buried in it once I die but I’d let it be something for the public at that point in time
