Today we’d like to introduce you to Edward Jones II.
Hi Edward, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My DJ journey started at age 5, inspired by my dad, who’s been spinning tracks for as long as I can remember. Watching him light up a room and bring people together through music sparked something in me early on—I knew I wanted to learn the ropes and be part of that magic.
Over time, blending songs and reading the crowd became more than just a skill—it became a passion. I loved the challenge of keeping people engaged and creating unforgettable moments through sound.
We built our business from the ground up, relying on word of mouth and the power of great experiences. Today, we’ve expanded our reach through platforms like WeddingWire, and we’re excited to grow even more.
At the heart of it all is The Jones Collective—a brand built on 5-star service and the belief that music creates everlasting memories. We’re not just DJs; we’re memory-makers, and we’re proud to share that with every client we serve.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road—and truthfully, it still isn’t. There are stretches where client inquiries are few and far between, and other times when we’re flooded with so many that it’s hard to respond to everyone as quickly and thoughtfully as we’d like. That imbalance is tough, especially because being present and responsive is core to who we are and what we strive for.
We’ve had to get creative to push through those roadblocks—whether it’s finding new ways to get our brand in front of people, streamlining how we manage communication, or simply staying flexible and resilient when things don’t go as planned. It’s a constant learning curve, but we’re committed to showing up, adapting, and growing through it all.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I specialize in weddings, where I bring an open-format DJ approach that keeps the energy flowing and the dance floor alive. While my foundation is in Hip Hop, I work heavily with Pop and Country—genres that often come with unique challenges when it comes to transitions and flow. That’s where my strength as a blending DJ really shines.
I’m known for seamlessly mixing tracks that most DJs wouldn’t attempt to pair—finding creative ways to bridge tempo, genre, and vibe without losing momentum. What sets me apart is my humility and hunger to keep learning. I treat every event as a chance to refine my craft, and I’m constantly pushing myself to improve.
What I’m most proud of is the level of attention to detail I’ve developed in my blends. It’s not just about matching beats—it’s about creating moments, reading the crowd, and making sure every transition feels intentional and smooth. That precision is what elevates the experience for my clients and their guests.
Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs or other resources you think our readers should check out?
I don’t really lean on books or podcasts. For me, music is the main source of motivation and energy—it’s what gets me in the right headspace to perform at my best. I start most days listening to my favorite artist, Larry June. His music carries a message of positivity, hustle, and self-growth that really resonates with me. It sets the tone for the day and helps me stay focused, grounded, and ready to take on whatever comes my way.
