Today we’d like to introduce you to Logan Ragsdale.
Hi Logan, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Hey there. Logan here, bassist and songwriter of, “Nobody Wins”. I will do by best to accurately depict the formation of my longest lasting, and most successful musical project. For as long as I can remember, music has been a part of my life as well as the rest of the band’s. Watching Seasame Street, I remember being obsessed with Bert’s saxophone. My parents told me they often played classical orchestra music on the stereo when I was upset in order to soothe me. We all participated in marching/concert band and/or, choir in grade school and high school. And Three fourths of the band grew up in Ohio and moved to the city of Toledo in 2018. But we “officially” met in Toledo in 2019. Previously Josh, (vocals), Corey (guitar) and Jake (percussion) had been a 3 piece who were looking for a bassist and rhythm guitarist. I previously played guitar in several different bands in my hometown of Memphis, TN. I moved here for a business opportunity with my good friends, which is where I met Jake. Jake was hired to work at the business my friend owned, and we quickly bonded over music, our familiar upbringing, and desire to pursue live music as more than just a hobby. Although I had never played in a “punk” band, I was more than eager to play with similarly minded musicians. We’ve now been a band for almost 5 years. Although we recently had a lineup change where I picked up bass duties, leaving Corey to handle the 6-string. We have a brand new batch of songs we recorded in studio that we plan to release early 2025.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Our biggest obstacle would have to be money. Being an independent artist is not cheap, nor easy. We book our own shows, we load our own gear, and we all pay money into the band to afford recording, traveling, merchandise and everything else that comes along with managing your own musical project. There are people who try to take advantage of that which can be taxing on one’s mental health.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
All of our music is available on whatever streaming site you choose. That said, we also appreciate those who support us on Bandcamp by choosing to download our music for a small price.
How do you define success?
Finding new fans who enjoy our music. Writing new songs. Playing new venues. There are lots of victories that reaffirm our choice to be in this group.
