Meet Vocal Fusion of Canton, Ohio

Today we’d like to introduce you to Vocal Fusion.

Hi Vocal, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Vocal Fusion™ began as a bold idea among a small group of passionate singers who wanted to reimagine what a cappella could be. What started as a few voices blending for the love of music has evolved into a 17-member powerhouse ensemble that’s become one of Northeast Ohio’s most exciting vocal collectives.

From the beginning, Vocal Fusion™ was about more than harmonies — it was about connection. Every performance is designed to immerse audiences in the emotion and energy of the human voice, unfiltered by instruments. Over time, the group’s mission expanded to include community outreach, mentorship, and education — inspiring the next generation of vocal artists through workshops, youth programs, and collaborations.

As a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit, Vocal Fusion™ is fueled by creativity and generosity. The ensemble is fully donor-supported, ensuring that every performance, from intimate showcases to grand stage productions, serves both artistry and impact.

Today, Vocal Fusion™ continues to push boundaries with bold, story-driven productions like Happily Ever After: A Tribute to 100 Years of Disney Magic and Christmas at the Palace, which brings together local Artist, young singers, and community sponsors to celebrate the season. In 2025, the group will represent Ohio on the national stage with an invitation to perform at the White House Holiday Open House, a milestone that underscores just how far their passion has carried them.

Through every note and every performance, Vocal Fusion™ remains grounded in its purpose: to inspire, uplift, and bring people together through the power of the human voice.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Launching a brand-new performing arts organization in 2023 came with its own unique set of challenges. The world had just begun to heal from years of uncertainty, and the performing arts community was still finding its footing. Many venues were cautious, audiences were smaller, and funding opportunities were tighter than ever.

Vocal Fusion™ had to prove that a new group could not only survive—but thrive—in that environment. With no roadmap, every step was built from scratch: fundraising, marketing, logistics, and even establishing credibility within the local arts scene. The group’s members poured in countless volunteer hours, balancing full-time jobs, families, and responsibilities while shaping an ambitious vision for what Vocal Fusion™ could become.

But through perseverance, community support, and an unshakable belief in their mission, Vocal Fusion™ quickly rose from an unknown name to a recognized artistic voice in Northeast Ohio. The road wasn’t easy—but every challenge sharpened their purpose, strengthened their unity, and amplified the passion behind every note they sing.

2023 – The Beginning

Formation of Vocal Fusion™, a 17-member contemporary a cappella ensemble based in Northeast Ohio.

Debut concert “All I Want For Christmas” — a community launch event that introduced the group’s signature immersive vocal style with over 1700 guests in attendance.

2024 – Growth & Artistic Expansion

“Lights, Camera, Acapella” — a full-scale theatrical concert celebrating the music of Hollywood through creative a cappella arrangements and storytelling.

Featured performances at local arts events, community festivals, and benefit concerts supporting youth arts initiatives.

Established their Resident Christmas show “Christmas at the Palace” entertaining the community and beyond seeing guests from as far as Chicago come to town for this event!

2025 – A Year of Milestones

“Happily Ever After: A Tribute to 100 Years of Disney Magic” — a concert celebrating Disney’s centennial through many a cappella arrangements.

Pro Football Hall of Fame Fashion Show — featured guest performance at one of Canton’s premier annual events celebrating fashion, football, and community.

Pro Football Hall of Fame Enshrinement Ceremony — performed the National Anthem for the 2025 induction ceremony, representing local artistry on a national stage.

Partnership with EN-RICH-MENT Fine Arts Program and ArtsinStark to establish the Vocal Fusion™ Youth Choir (grades 4–8), providing free access to arts education and performance opportunities.

White House Holiday Open House Performance (December 6, 2025) — selected as one of the few ensembles nationwide to perform for thousands of visitors touring the White House during the holiday season.

Continued partnership with community organizations and local sponsors to expand educational outreach and youth involvement in the arts.

Ongoing Initiatives

Vocal Fusion™ Youth Choir – weekly rehearsals, mentorship, and performances for students in grades 4–8.

Community Outreach & Education – workshops, mentorship, and collaborative projects designed to bring vocal arts to schools and underserved communities.

Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
When Vocal Fusion™ was first forming, there wasn’t a playbook for what we wanted to create — a professional-level vocal ensemble that could also function as a nonprofit arts organization, community hub, and educational platform. So mentorship became essential.

We’ve been blessed to receive guidance from some incredible mentors in both the music and business worlds. On the artistic side, we’ve had the privilege of connecting with leaders in the contemporary a cappella world like Deke Sharon and Ben Bram (of Pentatonix and Pitch Perfect fame). Both have written custom arrangements for Vocal Fusion™ and offered helpful insight into sound and performance — guidance that helped us refine our musical identity and professional standard in the early stages.

On the organizational side, we found tremendous support through SCORE of Stark County, a volunteer network that helps local nonprofits and small businesses get started. Their mentorship guided us through the foundational stages — from forming our 501(c)(3) structure to strategic planning and board development — ensuring that Vocal Fusion™ was built on a solid, sustainable foundation.

Locally, partnerships with ArtsinStark and EN-RICH-MENT have also been invaluable, offering mentorship in community engagement, youth education, and arts leadership. Together, these influences have helped Vocal Fusion™ blend artistry, business acumen, and community purpose — creating something much larger than the sum of its parts.
