Today we’d like to introduce you to Katherine Palms.
Katherine, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My path began with a deep curiosity about what it truly means to feel well — not just physically, but mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. After earning my degree in Communication and spending years immersed in health, yoga, and wellness, I realized how many of us are moving through life feeling overstimulated, under-nourished, and disconnected from ourselves.
Teaching yoga for over a decade and later expanding into Pilates, mindfulness, and mobility practices, I saw how powerful it is when people are given space to slow down and reconnect. Through my own experiences — navigating burnout, change, and self-discovery — I learned that well-being is a lifelong process of coming home to yourself.
That’s what inspired me to create The Well-Being Retreat — a space for people to step away from the noise, reset their nervous systems, and remember what it feels like to be present, vibrant, and whole. Each retreat blends movement, rest, nourishing food, and meaningful connection — offering not just an escape, but a return to what matters most.
At the heart of everything I do is a simple intention: to help people reconnect — with themselves, with each other, and with the natural rhythm of life. What matters most to me is creating spaces that feel grounding and genuine, where movement, mindfulness, and nourishment come together to restore a sense of wholeness. I believe well-being isn’t about striving to be better — it’s about remembering who you already are when you slow down, listen, and live with presence.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road — and I’m grateful for that. There were seasons of working for and with people whose values didn’t align with mine, and that misalignment was exhausting. It forced me to get clear on what kind of energy I wanted to give and receive, and to choose environments that felt more authentic and supportive.
Along the way, I also had to confront parts of myself I used to avoid — my ADHD, my self-limiting beliefs, and the stories I told myself about what was possible. There were moments of doubt and comparison, of trying to fit into molds that didn’t feel true. But over time, those experiences became teachers. They helped me learn how to slow down, trust my intuition, and define success on my own terms.
Getting clearer on what I really want to do — and why — has been a process of stripping away rather than adding more. Each challenge has helped me reconnect to my purpose: creating meaningful experiences that help others come home to themselves, too.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
My work lives at the intersection of movement, mindfulness, and meaningful connection. I teach yoga and Pilates with an emphasis on mobility, recovery, and nervous system regulation — guiding people to move with awareness rather than urgency. Beyond the physical, my offerings weave in mindfulness, breathwork, and emotional well-being practices that help people feel more grounded, calm, and connected to themselves.
I specialize in creating experiences — from daily classes to international retreats — that blend strength and softness, structure and surrender. Whether it’s a mat class, a workshop, or a weeklong retreat, my intention is always the same: to help people slow down enough to feel their own presence again.
I’m most proud of the communities I’ve built — from my local classes and collaborations in Michigan to The Well-Being Retreats around the world. Seeing people arrive tense or uncertain, and leave feeling lighter, inspired, and more at ease, is the most rewarding part of what I do.
What sets my work apart is the energy behind it — it’s not about performance or perfection, but practice. I bring a grounded, intuitive, and compassionate approach that honors each person’s individuality. My background in communication, years of teaching, and personal experience with both burnout and healing allow me to bridge the gap between modern life and mindful living — helping people integrate well-being into everyday life, not just escape to it.
Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
Start before you feel ready. The clarity comes from doing, not from waiting for the perfect plan. It’s okay to evolve — your path will likely look nothing like what you imagined, and that’s a good thing.
Stay curious about yourself. The more you understand your energy, values, and rhythms, the more aligned your work will feel. Don’t ignore the whispers — those quiet nudges often know the way long before your mind catches up.
Also, protect your energy. Not every opportunity is meant for you, and not everyone will understand your vision. Learn to recognize the difference between growth that expands you and effort that drains you.
Looking back, I wish I had trusted my intuition sooner — that inner knowing that says “this feels right” or “this doesn’t.” When you lead from that place, everything else begins to align.
